I am trying to build a capable crossover sled out of my 2004 Rx-Warrior. So far I have a 144" Expert X rear skid, 146x1.75 track, Hartman tunnel extension, Anti-ratchet combo drivers, Curve XS skis, CPR filter kit and clutch, Mountain Mod seat, 12mm sway bar, and a 6" pivoting riser.

Now I am looking to improve the front suspension. I am looking for aggressive trail riding and off trail playing.

How much better are the Ohlins front shocks compared to stock? Are they drastically better than revalved stock front shocks/springs?

Thanks

Yes they are. A set of Fox Floats are also miles ahead of the stock shocks and springs.

If it was me I would go with the ohlins. Not a big fan of the basic floats but ether one would be a big step up. If you are trying to save weight go with the floats but I think ohlins will give you a better ride. That's just me.

I have to duplicate allenpoulin on this one.
Ohlins is amoung the best shocks there is but a bit pricey. Go with the Ohlins for the best shock performance, Fox for the weight savings and less money. Stock shocks sucks IMO.

Thanks rxider. Now I know I am not the inlet one who likes a good spring and shock setup over the floats. I think the regular floats are more hype than performance but I have yet to try the float with the piggyback but I have still heard mixed reviews.

The aftermarked Floats for the RX-1 sure was a night and day experience for me, finally I could ride as fast I would dare without having the front end giving up on me :)

Thanks guys. I was thinking that they would be significantly better, but wanted opinions before I shell out that kind of $$. I am going to look into the Fox Floats, but I am probably going to go with Ohlins.

I love my Ohlins over stock. Cant compare them to the floats. Try port yamaha for pricing, I got them cheap compared to what there asking for them up here.

Where the Floats may shine is when you are screwing with your front ride height all the time. I'm constantly dinking with my suspension looking for that ultimate setup, and have found them invaluable for that purpose. To do the same with a conventional shock I would have a fortune wrapped up in spring inventory! With a revalve and an adjustable volume air resi, I've found them very capable.....capable of anything I am anyway!

Ohlins

I have an Ohlin M10 and Ohlins in the front on my 04 RX1 Warrior. The ride is amazing. You can push it as far as you would dare with this size sled. My buddy has a cat skid in his with the stock shocks up front and no way can he keep up in the bumps.

What kind of pricing is everybdy getting?..I got Ohlins for 1994 rx1 for a little over 600.00

Go ohlins if you can find them. I have them on 2 RX's with 13mm sway bars and simmons skis. I can out corner 440 race sleds and never break a sweat.

I tried Fox floats on RX and Apex never got the results The ohlins give you.
