If you cant handle changing the oil and filter every season in a 10 month down time your just plain lazy or afraid to work on a sled, lol!!

Come on Maxout, I'm not afraid to work on my sled(s), and I have lot's of mods/repair work under my belt to show for it. I think I'm as much of a sled/ Yamaha junky as most on this site!

But come on, you shouldn't have to remove the whole airbox and entire battery/bracket holder just to get to the oil filter. Obviously an access panel either from the front (under the hood), or the bottom would have been a better idea.

Mike

I wasnt makin a statement towards you I was saying in general.

And like I said, yamaha definitely put it into a bad spot.

We should be happy where it is at really though, because yamaha screwed up the placement of the nytro filters way worse. I think this past season alone I read a good 20 posts on various sled sites about the filter getting a whole in it from skid plates and losing all oil.

Either way I still feel with a 10 month period of down time changing it is not a big deal where it is currently. I take my sled apart that much every season anyhow for cleaning/maintance.
