Oil filters other than Yamaha

these coast 16k in canada and guys are mad because it cost $90.00 oil and filter in canada go to the us and buy it cheaper but what blows my mind that you guys crab about the price my friend purchase 2 drive belts for is cat and it cost him $250.00 and plus he has to buy oil at 45.00 a gal to por into so we spend a $100.00 a year All I can say is thank you Yamha for one hell of a good sled because that all I have to spend. If think if you have crab at what it cost maybe sell the sled go play darts it is cheaper.

8.50 for a Yamaha filter and 36.00 for 6 quarts of Mobil 1 5-30. comes to 26.50 for the phazer and
32.50 for the Apex. Some of you guys must bleed

If I am dechipering your post correctly darv, please tell me how driving to the states or even having oil and filters shipped to me up here in Canada is going to be cheaper and save me money??

Darv, when your purchasing gas, food, insurance etc, do you normally pay twice what it's worth or do you shop around like most price conscience consumers?

Tell you what, next time you pay for the highest priced food, fuel, insurance etc that you don't seem to mind paying, please send me the difference from the lowest price you could have gotten them all for and just maybe someday I'll be able to afford one of those $16,000 dollars sleds that your talking about ;)!

I go with what the OEM specifies. Spent alot of money on these sleds, I'm not to worried about spending $10 or so more in maintenance to know I have the right stuff. I think if we were truly dollar savvy, we would have bought a 500 fan cooled sled.

And there is nothing wrong with that if that is what makes you comfortable.

Myself, like I mentioned earlier, it cost me over $90 dollars CDN. ($92.67 actually) for Yamaha oil and a filter!

Currently I can do the same oil change with a KNOWN quality oil and a KNOWN quality filter for $40.00 bucks.

I don't know about you or others on here, but keeping $52.67 in my pockets is a lot more important than putting $52.67 in Yamaha's pockets ;)!
Well said Irv !!!

Thanks Cat Hunter.

I guess money is no object to some on here?
Must be nice is all I got too say!

I've been using Amsoil since I bought my sled. After pouring over the forums it seemed to be the most recommended in the RX1 forums. My local price for 3L is $45. A few of my buddies have decided to split on becoming an Amsoil Preferred customer $30/year and you get wholesale prices with them. That would bring my sled oil change down to less than $30. Plus I'll start using it in both my cars and anything else. Brilliant marketing on Amsoil's part I guess. hahaha who's going to use another brand of oil when you're paying a subscription to one company.

And I stand by leaving the sled filter alone until yamaha's recommended interval.

I use the same brand of oil and filters on my sled and all my vehicles, including my $50,000 truck which is still got factory warranty.I also sell these products in my shop and if I had to use and charge Yamaha prices I would not be in business !!! And by the way my sled has almost 16,000 miles and running like a Swiss watch!!! ;)!

To each it's own. When you got the money & don't care getting ripped off that fine with me.
I just feel like stock and a genuine yamaha filter are the best for my sled. Personally i feel like yamaha is oveprice in general so $17 for a oil filter dosesnt suprise me one bit
