I was looking at the 2002 rx-1 service manual and notice something in the last section of the oil change procedure.They mention a OIL GALLERY BOLT that is located next to the exaust header on the left side(in close to header).The procedure stats that you losen this bolt while the engine is running and if oil runs out there is oil pressure.The procedure must be done no longer than a minute or the motor could be damage.No mention of this procedure in the owners manual.My father once owned a 1986 moto4 atv that had a screw in the cylinder head with a similar procedure every time you change the oil.Should i be worry about this every time i change the oil.
 

No, you don't have to worry about it. I am not familiar with this plug but if there is one it makes no sense to open it. Just change the oil, change the filter and start it up and check for leaks. After you drain the oil from the tank on the right side, remove the two allen head bolts from the pickup fitting on the bottom of the tank. You will find a screen inside the fitting that you should clean off. The fitting has an o-ring seal that can be re-used many times. You'll be all set. During the startup the oil will be sent up the oil galley to the head to lube the cams within seconds. There is no need to remove any plugs to purge air from the oiling system. Doing so has no advantages and only opens up more possibilities for things to come loose during operation.
 
Yeah I also saw that in the service manual. It sounds like its to make sure your oil pump is working so you don't burn up the engine, but I agree there's no need to do that at regular oil change intervals. Does the RX1 have a low oil pressure light? That would tell you the same thing.
 
No oil pressure light because they want the engine to fail at some point down the road. Yamaha does the same thing with their 2-smokes. If the oil pump fails in your 2-smoke there is no warning light for this, only a low oil level light which doesn't help. I had the oil pump go on my XTC and it seized the motor on me. Kind of makes me mad that Yamaha doesn't have warnings for this stuff. The RX has all this digital monitoring, it should tell you when there is an oil pump problem, which will cause an engine failure. I had a broken wire in my electric hand grips on my rx-1 and a stupid idiot light came on for that! ...but for certain engine failure from no oil pressure there is no warning!
 
If for some reason your oil pump lost its prime during the oil change, removing this bolt after startup would let you know that the pump wasn't pumping. Why Yamaha didn't at least put a pressure sensor in this hole is beyond me. Even an idot light would be better than nothing.
 
in a 4 stroke it would make a hell of a lot more sense to have a low pressure light than a low oil light, maybe thats something to look into
 
Taking the bolt out to check and see if it has not oil pressure makes no sence. If the oil pump went down I'm sure your motor would be toast in a couple of minutes. So obviously it was fine when you last rode it why check it.
