Re read your post! Its easy to see who is whining!rightarm said:Your're right sleddog, why don't you just sell it!or better yet since your're so pissed about nothing just give it away and then you'll really have something to be mad about.LOL. By the way when was the last time you checked for sweating shock's on a new car?.
You shuld not have sweatiing/leaking shocks on a new car that is why it should not be a problem on a new sled also. When shocks fail their is oil all over the shock this sweating thing is a cop out. If it leaks it leaks for a reason. If the rod needs more polishing then polish it more dont ask me to polish it with my seal until it stops leaking. Mine is not leaking so no need to give my sled and right arm away! I check everything over before I buy dont you?

Sleddog this sweating thing is not a cop out we have the same situation with our $15,000 dollar Ohlin's inverted superbike fork's,it's a non issue.By the way I wouldn't want you to sell your sled it's one of a kind!.And I do understand your frustration but don't let it eat you up.You'll see once the shock and seal heat up it will expand the seal and no more sweating.

You do have a tenacious grip on wanting or thinking that this is a problem.
But I would be...shocked.. if it turned out to be a real problem. 3? 5? 8? people remarked on this last year. Did I miss all the reports on shock failures?
Please keep us posted BlueBlood. I really think it is going to be OK. If not sounds like you got a good dealer to work with in the rare event that you do indeed have a problem

Hey Blueblood... I noticed the same thing on my Attak. Just a drop of oil on the shock. No oil on the track. Wiped it off and its been clean ever since. I think that when they put it together there is some oil on the threads that settles out and just leaves a drop on the shock. No big deal. Can't wait for snow.

I wouldn't get too excited over all of this, its under warranty for a year. Anything mechanical is entitled to break and will eventually break. There has to be margin for defective stuff and someone will receive that product.

Preservative oil or is it a leak? If it is a just a covering then a sticker saying so would be nice to let the consumer know to expect this or have the dealer wipe it down prior to delivery. If it is a leak its a leak in my book, whats sweating a very small leak??????

Let's not blow this out of proportion guy's. If it is indeed a leak we'll know soon enough the fact that it did'nt reappear after wiping it off tells me it's not a leak but simply an excess drop of oil from assembly. There must be a few hundred Apex owners on this site does'nt sound like a whole lot are seeing the issue. If it continues to leak after you start riding it and get a 100 miles or so on it then it's time to take it in to the dealer and have them register the problem with Yamaha.
Don't worry be happy You got the best damn sled on the market

yeah not letting a few drops of thread cutting oil rain on my sled of the year parade
OK we are ditching the traditional 10% market share this year.
How about a thread where we guess the 06 maket share for Yamaha?
Winner gets a prize (no not a case of oil) we wont know for a year tho

There will always be a small film of oil on your shock shaft when there is movement in the suspension, when temperatures change from hot/cold it tends to sweat, looks like beads of water hence the term sweating.
