oil tank stress cracks

I was wondering if any one else has had issues with the oil tank stress cracking down by the lower support bracket. It appears that they used the same tank on all 06 & 07 4-stroke engines. The cracking is on the molded radius of the tank "not the seam" it looks like the support bracket might have been about a 1/4" to short and stresses the corner. I'll need to buy a new tank and i think i will install a rubber shim between the tank and mounting Bracket.

One of the guys i ride with has the same issue. We both have 06 Nytro's

There have been a few reports of tank crack issues. Do a search on "Tank Cracks" and you'll find some info such as the following thread:

I put rubber washers inbetween the frame and the tank , not sure if it's going to help but better than nothing .......

Take it to a machine shop and have it aluminum welded and save a few bucks! Thats what I did, no problems since.

those tanks are extremely thin,when you put back the oil drain plug after an oil change,you can actually see the tank bending when you tighten it
