Last weekend I was doing maintenance, oil, filter, chaincase, drive shaft bearing, and exhaust donuts. When I was done removing the last flex pipe I noticed a dark line in the overflow tank. Took it off dumped the coolant and it looks like an oily residue was left on the container.
Sled overheated (light came on) a few times last season but I either headed for fresh snow and the light would go out or I would shut it down and wait. Could this be a head gasket? Is there anything I can do to check this?

My '07 Apex has the same oily residue and has dark contaminates suspended in the coolant overflow bottle.
My sled is still under warranty so I am going to have my dealer look at it.

Mine too, maybe they just do that, possible just crap in the system from hoses, etc..

I just called the service manager at my local dealer and he said that he has seen this on almost all of the Apex's including his own.
He was not sure exactly where it comes from but he said not to worry about it.

I guess I should extend my warranty...

Thanks guys.... I thought I was in for some major repair but it sounds like it may be a common thing.
