I think they would still work pretty good.At least your feet would have something to grip. The stock running boards suck.

Apparently the stock heat exchangers are removed and the snow eliminators installed. Then you mount the stock heat exchangers directly over inside portion of the snow eliminators.
That sure sounds like one would be giving up a good portion of the benefits of the snow eliminators.
At this point, I think I'll pass but, I'm listening....................

If I had to do it over again I would use Snow Eliminators with the Fabcraft edges and without the stock exchangers (assuming that the Snow Eliminators provide the support lost by canning the stock exchangers). I may change my tune if I find, during the season, that I don't have proper cooling.
I put SnowmadTT's old seat on today (5" taller than stock) and got to pretend to ride. It is going to be nice not to have the bars at eye-level when sitting anymore!
I also got the new temp gauge in and the newly plumbed cooling system bled. No leaks that I can see!

If it were me I wcould use the Fabcraft cooler edges then take the stock edge coolers cut off the extra material (flanges etc) off and make a U-cooler for the rear out of the stock coolers. If you did your owm cutting I'm sure you could get the new cooler welded for $50.00 and you would end up with more than enough cooling. That's not dissimilar to what I did on my turbo sled and it never overheats.

Very good suggestion, I will go that route if I have any cooling problems. Though I now have pass-through holes in the tunnel extension that will dictate the inlet/outlet location of a new u-cooler and possibly require extra modification.

Since I'm an old aircraft structural repairman. I wonder if I can leave the existing heat exchangers in place and build my own snow eliminators that go over the top of the exchangers (after the rolled edge on the stock running boards are cut off).
Huh?? Then I'd be doing exactly what the SLP kit would do but, it would be very inexpensive.

When I was first brainstorming I considered your approach but was afraid that the open area between the stock cooler and the board edge (even the unrolled width) would not provide adequate area for the snow to fall through. It would be easy enough to test and then change later without much down-side if you decided to forge ahead.

IMO the stock coolers have to go in order to have no area under your foot where snow has a chance of building up. If you have snow then stand on it and the coolers melt it a bit then you stop for lunch and and and next thing you know you've got ice which is a lot harder to get rid of then snow.

Looks like a wicked ride... let us know how your mods turned out. I see that quite a few of us are still with our original RX-1tons... lol...
Just to tease you all, way up here, we have a foot of snow... still too soft to run on yet though, except for them old Bravos. Got my wife's Bravo going today. Sea ice coming soon. We are hitting -10 C and colder at nights, so the cold weather is on its way south.

I don't have to much grieve with snow build up on my RX1 , just stay on the power so the heaters melt your boards of. it is one of the benefits of this design.
All the new sleds are lighter to start with but carry all the snow and ice on the boards .
I had to do the Swiss cheese treatment on the girlfriends phazer.
