so my 04 warrior with 12k on it doesnt like cold starts even when choked. it will start with choke and then it will want to stall like it's had enough choke and I have to help it with the throttle. after a minute or two it all of a sudden it will snap into rythym and run like a champ. even this summer it starts great with full choke and I turn it down as it needs it but then it will die and if I leave it on it will die. I have new coils and ran 2 bottles of ring free last spring when this issue started. we checked compression last winter and it was fairly low cold, but when hot fine.

my question is this.... is there something electrical that could be messing with the operating temp switch? is there something on the carb rack that could have been moved or not set right when dealer cleaned last winter when prob started? I am hoping my rings are not going bad and begging for an answer. thanks!!!!!

i think you have plugged pilot jets, as they are the circut that feeds fuel at idle. when you clean the carbs make sure all passages are clean using carb cleaner and compressed air. check the choke slides for full travel as well. these are actually an enrichener circut that feeds extra fuel for start up. on the bottom of the carbs are electric carb heaters that come on only when cold (coolant temp). you can see if they are plugged in near the oil tank, white plug i believe. i dont think its the problem because they would throw a code on the dash. also check that carbs are fully seated in boots, no air leaks, and clamps are tight.

Ok..good advice with pilots. I am scared of carbs, but maybe this is the time to try it. Boots r tight and plugs are good. Funny thing is my ptoblems started when I chqnged my plugs at 10k as thought I was doing a good deed but she just started to run rough. I have changed them since with no improvement.
