I don't know if I would call it an issue but more that it bugs me. At least once a season my light comes on and with the snow here being either low of hard pack I am wondering what I could do about it. Currently I've done nothing. To start I think I will add some water wetter and the gauge panel vent. But for the off season I was thinking of an extra cooler. So my questions are what options are out there? If more than one what do you like as far as did it make a big difference, ease of instal, ext? I think I also want to add a temp gauge. I'd like a digital one what again what would be the best option? Looks the cleanest, ext... Thanks for the help. Mike.

The best things I did was add the Yamaha MTX cooler and a temp gauge. The first two years I owned the sled I never had an issue and ran into some pretty bad situations where I should have boiled over. Last season in good conditions my light came on every ride, and ran super hot one day. This season she hasn't run any hotter than 195...most times it sits between 165 and 175...damn near perfect....I now have no more worries.

That's what I want to here. How involved was the mtx instal? And if you don't mind what gauge did you put on?

Daytona Digital Temperature guage from Ulmer Racing. He had instructions on his site on how to install. Mountain cooler from Yamaha comes with instructions and helps lots. Seat and gas tank have to come off( or at least gas tank has to be slid back.). Its doable for the average person. Just mark down the order you took it off and which bolts go where.

I have put two Yamaha OEM coolers on mine Nytros. No overheating issues whatsoever in any conditions I have run. If I had to do it again, I would have went with Roest. For about the same size, I think the cooling capacity is about double. I would ask those who have purchased his cooler what they think. Just my 2 cents.

trying to add Pics of guage and cooler.

Thanks for the pics. Is there drilling through the tunnel required for the mtx cooler? I thought there is with roust.

If my memory serves me correct, the hose line holes at the front are already there but you may have to drill out a couple of rivets to remove a dummy plate covering them. Also, a few rivets may have to be drilled out to rivet the cooler in place. Actually, the more I remember, there was a fair bit of dismantling involved to install this, but the included instructions that came with the kit, were good.

It's not hard at all to install..a bit of messing around but very straight forward. 2 rivets for the block off plate and a couple tunnel rivets need to be drilled out and that's it. Then it's just a matter of draining the coolant and replace the hoses...top up the coolant and you're good to go...a couple hours work at best. Mine didn't come with instructions but Ulmer hooked my up and they were very easy to follow. I have an AEM gauge...works awsome.

Doesn't the mountain tech cooler have more capacity and is the same price ....that's what I'm going with and pioneer performance has a rear cooler for the nytro so I'm thinking that to and taking the rad right out....

I just added scratchers, mounted to the skis. No more overheating, and no more excess hyfax wear. A temp gauge is a nice addition too.

Just added the mtx cooler to my xtx anyone with a little skill can do it. Takes longer to tear sled apart than to put the exchanger in.
