P2300 code 2014 Viper LTX

Had the sled apart tonight. Pulled the ignition coil sticks out, put the plugs in them, and turned the sled over. No spark on pto side cylinder. Tested orange wire in the ignition coil harness, and it had 12V. Tested other wire in the harness (grey/brown if i remember) down the to the ECU harness Q1 (using diagram provided), and had continuity. To me it rules out the ignition coil sticks, and wiring between them and the ECU harness as being the culprit. Out of the process of elimination, it looks like the ECU itself is the problem.

Will know more when I test with a working ECU in the next day or two.

Just wanted to update the thread as it may help somebody else with troubleshooting down the road.

Thanks to everyone that's replied to date.

Tested with the spare ECU on Friday and it eliminated the problem. Found a working used one as a replacement and installed it with no issues. Sending the sled to the dealer tomorrow to update the replacement ECU to current but it looks as though its fixed.

Thanks again for the help.

Good find. Can your old ECU be re-flashed to stock?

I'm sure it could be, but with the q1 pins on the ECU not working I didn't want to spend the time and money taking it to the dealer only to have the same issues.

How does it run? Does it skip?
Make sure there is 12 volts at the orange wire. The orange wire should be 12 v constant and the ECU controls the ground( terminal A ) to fire the coil. If there is enough length on the leads, swap the PTO and center harness, plug the center connector into the PTO coil and vice versa, and let it idle, the code should STAY with the PTO side if it a wire problem because the ECU still thinks it is firing PTO coil
Like 1nc 2000 said, if there is resistance or an open on that wire or pin the ECU will trip a code.
I dont know there where any issues with the EVO flashes........maybe if you had another sled to try that ECU in it could tell you if the ECU is the problem.

Never swap the ignition coil connectors. Firing the cylinders out of order can cause engine damage. A few years back a Vector was brought to me for repairs because the owner mistakenly crossed two coil wires. It damaged all the starter gears and sheared the flywheel crankshaft key.

Yeah, that was my bad on that, I was thinking fuel injector connectors
