Riding in light snow today (about 15 degrees out) and it would kind of ice up on my heated shield. I don't recall that happening before. The ice came off easily with my bare hand.
The element did not feel warm. My nose did not feel warm, and I swear in the past the shield generated a certain amount of heat.
I did not have any fogging issues, but after 4+ decades of riding I have trained myself to always exhale downward.
Now I wonder if the shield, the cord, or the 2011 Vector plug-in point is bad.....or if everything is fine!!??!!??? WHat do you think, what can I test?

My shield has a small green LED to let me know when the shield has power. I noticed on the last ride it was off. I moved the cord around and it went back on. I used a continuity tester on the shield connectors and the cord. The cord has a break in he continuity when it is moved around. That's a simple fix for me.
If that all checks out good make sure the fuse on the sled's power cord is good. Also check its continuity.

I believe that there is a 3 amp fuse (maybe 5 amp) in the fuse box on your sled. It might have burnt out, check and replace if needed. Check your shield cord thoroughly. Mine just cracked/split riding today. Good thing I had a spare, perhaps pony up for a new one.
If the fuse is burnt, you may have caused it by arcing one end of the cord on a metal surface. Always unplug the cord from the dash power first.

What works for us:
Years ago as an oval racer one of my sleds had the factory tether near the throttle, tethered to your throttle hand you soon learn to do everything with your left hand.
We got our first electric shield in 97 so it was only natural to run shield power out of handle bar pad by throttle( 6" sticking out ) and then run cord up inside right sleeve, thru loop in back of jacket and out to helmit. Since I put a shoelace loop on left side of collar to run cord thru. Easier to find when you put your jacket on. You get trained to plug cord to helmit and it never gets unplugged untill you remove your helmit. It becomes second nature to plug and unplug the cord at your right hand. Wife and I still use the old cords from 1997 helmits, ride aroung 3000miles most seasons.
All the group we regularly ride with use the same system.
I always carry a couple RCA cords cause when we ride with other than our group it make me smile when they look for 2nd piece of their cord, or rap cord around handle bar, gas cap or even their neck( not to safe). Soon I have to get out my tester and end up giving them a cord.
Wife and I both see each other check our cords are plugged into our helmits with out even thinking.
Forgot- I have apiece of velcro on cord end hanging out of sleeve and other part on right jacket forarm, can then keep cord out of way when off sled as cord always stays in jacket.
