Just wondering if any one has tossed the GEMS box off the MPI turbo and installed a PCV with or without a autotune. I have a PCV and a autotune and a ignition module and I am wondering if I should put it on my MPI 190 kit.

Just give me all your PC stuff and you won't have to wonder anymore:D
Just kidding, I am actually thinking about doing the same, I guess there's no real power advantage, just the ability to fine tune for better fuel mileage, I only get like 11 mpg out of mine with the gems, I hear pc guys get like 14-17 mpg but you do loose some of the snap off the line cause you have to take off the eabc if you have one on yours.

Totally worth changing. The pcv is much nicer and ton of support from shops like ulmer and hurricane for tunes.

I love the "snap" of mine with the EABC but I am only getting around 9.5-10 MPG if I run it hard. I might switch to a PCV if I could get that MPG to over 12 when running hard.

I'm still debating on it but the more I look at it, it doesn't make sense to me, power commander with auto tune and pod 300 is like close to $1200 new last time I checked, that's enough cash for fuel for 3 riding seasons and I ride primarily off trail so I don't care about mileage that much anymore, oh and I hear of guys running it for a couple seasons and still don't have it dialed in like it should be, unless I could just by the pcv and a perfect running map from hurricane or whomever.

Yes you don’t need all that just a pcv pti unit I believe. Ulmer and hurricane both offer this with a map and are pretty bang on for the basic kits. I mean if any mods have been done otherwise they have done them and tuned them they both have been in the game a long time.

I kno a ton of guys have done the pcv swap try the search and I bet you’ll find every answer to a question you could have. If not here Facebook group viper page will have it but I kno it’s on both here and there.

I ditched the gems on mine after the first season and went with the pc5 pti with Ulmer’s mapping and ignition module. Mine is one of the original stage 1 innercooled kits so never had an eabc on mine..however mine ran so much better with the pc5. Ulmer’s mapping is right on the money and I’d guarantee the tuning will negate any worries of loss of “snap”. Mine is now tuned at 9 psi on low boost and 12 psi on high boost and about the only way to describe the power is: it has the throttle response of an n/a sled except when it hits it hits with twice the power. Mine produces 250 horse, I trail ride it all day on pump gas and it gets 15-17 mpg no matter how I drive it. There’s obviously more to it than just the pc5..but before when I was running the gems I would be looking for gas at the 80 mile mark because it wasn’t gonna make it another 20 miles. Now I can put 150 miles on and still make it home without the gas light coming on. I’d say if you got the stuff you’re crazy not to use it, try and get in touch with Ulmer and purchase some mapping from him, you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been thinking of upgrading for awhile....I have too much into the sled to start all over with a Sidewinder. I have the 180 low elevation kit with ulmers header, clutch kit and a D&D can...what do I need to get to 250? Injectors, intercooler, head shim/studs, pc5? 250 on pump gas? I ride with a bunch of turbo dynamic sidewinders and would like to at least be in the same ballpark lol.

You have a good start. Head shim is the easiest and cheapest route while still having a reliable trail setup. Head studs go in at the same time. Bigger injectors for sure, I also have a rising rate fuel regulator on mine as well as an innercooler, I personally wouldn’t attempt it without an innercooler. I also have the d&d exhaust and with that it makes 250 horse at 12 psi. If you’re in the states I’d definitely talk with Ulmer and have him get you setup with a complete package. I have his mapping in my pc5 and it’s spot on!

I have been looking for a pcv map for my 2014 sr viper xtx with the trail 180 mpi turbo kit, I have a pcv and the ignition module with an auto tune. I have the evo header and I straight piped it off the turbo. Any help or map would be great.

Some maps here.

Do you have a base map? If so you should be able to set your desired AFR's in autotune and let it do it's magic and build a personalized map.

I do have the base map but I am not a tuner and have no idea what my afr should be lol.

Not a tuner either but played around alot when my '18 RTX was Hurricane turbo'd.

Here is a ballpark of what I worked towards with tuning, autotune and datalogging.

AFR targets
- 1/4 throttle and below --13 - 13.5
- 1/2 throttle 5000rpm 12.5
- 3/4 throttle 7000rpm 12
- WOT 11

I found anything close to 14 would create too much heat. I also played with 10.5 AFR at WOT throttle but it required an upgrade to the software to get to Autotune anything less than 11 and I don't think it was necessary.
