So my local dealer is having there open house this weekend and we were talking about my phazer. Some of you may have read that they are installing a fan under warranty, but I also find out when they have my sled they will also be installing an updated rear suspension part that they say is a yamaha recall. I guess it the the part everyone has been talking about? I also get the news that yamaha has authorized them to close the rear tunnel hole for anyone that wants it, this is not a freebie, but also will not void any of your warranty anymore. So mine is being closed... no more of everyone calling my sled "the ice machine" everytime one of those big chunks fall from the tunnel.
I am a happy camper today... now i just can't wait for the snow!

will they be providing the panel to close off the tunnel?
I'd love to seal mine off.. but don't have the time or resources
to find and cut a piece to fit.

Yamaha is not making a panel to close the tunnel... My dealer is getting them made on there own, but it is with yamaha's consent. Oh, and it is to only close the larger rear hole not the front one.
Find a welding / fabrication shop in your area... they could easily cut a piece of aluminum for you, then maybe take it to your dealer and have them install it.

Excell Motorsports has a nice looking panel for the Phazers now. It's around $60. I just ordered one up. Call Aaron there if interested, he's a good guy to work with.

They did not say the fan was a recall, but it is being covered under warranty by yamaha. But I also made my concerns about overheating known to my dealer and to yamaha on several occasions.

Go look in the Port Yamaha section, I asked just asked some questions about the phazer and just got some answers about if there are any recalls and things such as that.

Everything I have said here is straight from my dealer. It seems funny that every dealer has different answers to the same questions.
Oh, and I have had no issues with a rear linkage problem and don't seem to have a need, at this time, for an updated part or was even thinking of closing the tunnel due to other reports I have heard about the exhaust getting too hot, they are just things the dealer felt I should know.
If I or they used the words recall wrongly than I appoligize, but I'm just letting you guys now what I was told.
tkuss: I read your post in the port yamaha section as well as the reply and as I stated about every dealer having a different reply, my dealer gave no information about an updates for the steering linkage, but did say there may be an update for some issue about snow getting into some front end areas that could freeze and become a steering problem.
So anyway, that's just my two cents worth.

I greatly appreciate all your info you are providing and would love for everybody to post any and all information they find, because I also have have been to multiple dealers and ask about the phazer and like alot of people I get alot of different answers. I might of mixed up your words when asking port yamaha about the updates for the phazer, if I did I apologize, I just read your post once and then thought I would ask a dealer that is on this site and see what they have to say, so I kind of just paraphrased your post. I dont think I did, but If I offended you in anyway I am sorry.
My dealer showed me a letter from Yamaha Scandinavia, that said all the phazers would get recalled. the letter mentioned the things that Port Parts wrote about in his post.
It also said that all owners would get a letter about the recall when the factory released the official information.
I will let you know when i recieve the letter.
Since im in sweden this may not be interesting to you. But i just want to share what i know.

there will be a recall and a service bulletin on all 2007 phazers there is a fan kit but it will not be free and on the suspension bracket 2008s get the new one if a 2007 have a problem with it they say to put the new part on but not for free. it comes as a kit. all dealers should have this info now so just talk to your dealer they will get everything worked out .they wont cover it under warranty but they will goodwill it.

I am tired of this... I will not post anymore about it till I get the sled back from the shop in a couple of weeks. Then I'll let you all now what was done and/or not done.

Your observation about different dealers having different answers is not all that unusual. The difference in many cases is the confusion between goodwill and warranty. If a customer has a good relationship with the dealer he may receive what appears to be warranty when it's actually the goodwill of the dealer to the customer while the dealer sorts out the validity of the warranty claim with Yamaha proper. Warranty resolution can be a difficult and lengthy process for any manufacturer so the dealer will often use goodwill to preserve customer relationships.
This is why we ask, plead and beg anyone who has a problem to take it up with their dealer. Just remember that the dealer/customer relationship is just that, a relationship. If you have a warm and fuzzy relationship it's likely that everyone will be smiling. If you have a combative relationship....
...well, that pretty much speaks for itself.
