Can someone please tell me exactly what I need to mount some Pilot skis on my brand new XTX. I know that there have been posts in the past but after I searched I found conflicting reports, some say to use the ZX style rubber bumpers others say to use the Rev bumpers and others say to use Slydog mounts. I would greatly appreciate some accurate info. Pics would be a great help as well. Thanks in advance!

I used the ZX rubber mounts on mine, that's what I was told when I was looking to install my pilot's.

How do you like the 6.9's? Any good on the trail? Add Floatation off trail?

Are you talking from experience?? I was interestedin putting the Pilots 5.7 on my Nytro this winter. I'd really like to have some honest reports on how they work. If enough negitive reports, then I will stay with my C&A Razors for my next set of skis. Just thought I'd try saving some money with the Pilots.

I tried Pilot 6.9s on my Nytro and found that they weren't aggressive enough on the trails. They seemed to push alot.
Flotation on powder snow was pretty good, but again they didn't turn all too well in the powder, especially compared to my previous Slydog trail skis.
Stick with the C&A skis...either the Razors, Outlaws, XTXs, or XTs. They are a more aggressive, durable ski and their added width help with flotation in the powder.
Sorry, went off topic here...when I had the Pilots on, I used the Skidoo ZX ski rubbers.

Yes, had them on my Attak and my buddys F7...there junk and the stock skies came off....the push real bad and suck in lose snow....ever wonder why the ski doo guys are taking them off also.....Scott Bergstrom even says the stock yamaha ski was better....don't do it, you'll be disapointed

I have the 5.7 on. I agree, they push bad in the loose snow.

I am surprised to here you guys say this because Hygear did a field test with the Pilot Ski, C&A Razor and Simmons. Hygear claims the pilot ski was the best all-around choice. Bruce at Pioneer, also claimed improvement with the pilot skis. I have a brand new set mounted on my Nytro and I am waiting to try them out. I am also having my shocks revalved by Pioneer. I am running 6" carbides up the center with 4" on the outer-edges.
Aftermarket skis are great, but if you ride in remote areas and have something break like a carbide or ski, some dealers may not have the item in stock on the shelf. This also curved my decision to go the with the pilots because I ride in Quebec quite a bit.

I have 5.7s on my SE and couldn't be happier. It makes the sled flat out rail without push or dart. All you need to do is "V" cut or elongate the slot in the Doo rubber to fit the Nytro spindle. I will get these skis again (if they ever where out). I've had the same pair on two sleds so far and they're like new.

I also would think most skis would push in slop or slushy snow without a deep keel. However that deep keel makes steering effort high and darting more noticeable on hard pack.

Is it as simple as getting the ZX rubbers? Will the ZX rubbers work with the Yamaha bushings or do I need to get bushings as well. I would assume that the stock bolts will work. Anyone have a part# for the ZX rubbers? Thanks again I appreciate the information.

I put the 6.9's on after my first ride in deep powder, I was ready to sell the XTX up this point!! I was very dissapointed with the stock skis off trail, on trail they are great. Once I put the 6.9's on I went looking for powder and boy was I amazed, it was a different sled. They floated and actually kept the front end up in the powder. I have my suspension set up for lots of transfer so I use the engine breaking to my advantage in the turns, I don't notice the pushing as bad as others have mentioned.
I will have a look and see if I can find a part# for you.
Here you go
Part number is 506151233

I have tried 6.9s I like them they push way less than stock.
But I did put more agressive carbides in them.
So who knows?
You'll also need to machine down one of the stock Nytro spacers 3 or 4mm. I can't remember?
This allows you to position the ski with a slight little wider stance.
Other guys have pulled the bushings out of the 6.9 ski and flipped to the outside. Then maybe you need to add washers.
I opted to take material off one of the stock spacers.
Cheers
