For your unit, yes. The yellow part is the fuse, there are two "extra" data output wires in the cable too.
Legend series owners do not have this option, we must use the 12 volt adapter(transformer), and wire that to the battery. Remember to keep it fused whether through the adapter or external fuse of appropriate size.
So is that little yellow thing a fuse and a transducer or just a fuse? Can I put an inline transducer on the positive cable from the battery?

The yellow thing is the fuse. Voltage regulation is inside the male power adapter housing. I have the same unit. The batteries last for several rides easily, even without the power adapter because the display on this unit is designed for low battery draw. I agree with the above replies, it is a 3V input so if you are going to hardwire just buy a female cig adapter and wire that one in. It is a good unit, although sometimes hard to see without the backlight. Garmin is a first class company, and really stands behind their products. Enjoy.

I also have a Garmin 60CSX that I mounted to my handlebars with a Ram mount last year. Used the Garmin cord to plug it into the cig plug on the Attak. The plug never came out, but the cord broke off right where it enters the part that plugs into the lighter socket. It happened on two cords, don't know if it was the cold, vibration or what. Ran the last half of the season on lithium batteries, I could always get at least a full day on a set.

Do you have any pics of your set up? I am trying to get mounting ideas as well.
Also, does anyone have a link to where I can buy a female cig adapter?
