It actually lasts longer than you might think. The key is to clean it often. If you let it oxidize, then your back to step 1 with the sandpaper...BBY

When you start with the sandpaper do you do it by hand or possibly use a detail sander? My buddie the bodyman has a miniature, air powered D/A sander the pads are about an Inch to Inch and a Half in diameter, that would probably work great for the rails well as a lot of other tight spots.

I personally do it all by hand and keep the sand strokes in the long direction from front to rear. Im sure a sander would work, but I would still use the 4000 by hand as the last step before polishing...BBY
