Is it a matter of pop old one out new one in? Mine a ton of freeplay.
Yes it is but keep in mind there is supposed to be play.I have never had to replace one even with well over 20000mi. Tight is usually the issue. There are specs. Will look around.

There are a few fibers coming from the bushing so I was curious if this is whats holding me back.
That's definitely not normal. Could you post a pic? There are a few fibers coming from the bushing so I was curious if this is whats holding me back.
Doesn't look to be specs anymore. Here is some old ones. Just using a Caliper on my cover bushing 1.1055in/28.08mm
Should be smooth and somewhat shiny. If not just replace it.

Yea that's toast. Two things. Too install it it needs to be perfectly straight and preferably have a stepped pin which fits inside bushing otherwise just be very careful and use press or make something using two washers and a bolt don't hammer it in. Second thing is when installing cover back on clutch make sure its straight so shaft doesn't bung up the bushing. Clean clutches as often as possible. Here is a pic of mine. I believe I had about 6-7000 mi on it when I switched to the 911 Cover. That's another option. Has a real big bronze bushing that this probably wouldn't happen to. Expensive though.

Do I have to press old one out or can I pound it out?
Doesn’t matter it’s junk anywayDo I have to press old one out or can I pound it out?
Would be good practice though for installing. Just reverse!

Cannondale I noticed in your photo, lines that look a lot like stress cracks around the top of the bushing. The lines seem to go all the way around the hole at the top of the bend. Might be nothing but the lines on the left do look like fine cracks.
