possibly, but any that I have ever heard of that had problems had roller blown or roller bushing shot and created distorted flyweight movement.
and it is fairly common ...you can search it here right?.
if they break aluminum around that mount area like that you can be pretty sure that the roller is not good. In this case it looks obvious to me.
Maybe there are a lot of other that blow up or break in other areas like you say..I just haven't heard of it. There very well may be

This folks, this right here is a bigger issue than any "clutch strength issues"!!

If you've got over 500 miles and haven't looked at your weight bushings or roller bushings, you better start checking them! Even on a box stock unit, this stuff needs to be checked every 500 miles! I just replaced a set of rollers & weights in a completely stock unit with 625 miles on it, the bushings in both were shot!

For us novice clutch tuners, can you provide any symptoms or photos indicating worn out roller bushings? I have just shy of 1000km on my winder, what should we be looking for? Does it sound louder when it starts to give away, gonna inspect them tonight and need to know what I should be looking for other than the obvious blown parts

They are blowing up also and are not rebuildable.
No there not ,team working good I have over 1200 miles no problems ,boosted ,Wait I’ll buy a pro 3 from ya , how they holding up, any good just saying!!!!
The APEX primary will work with the SW secondary
Team wider weights, steel spider, wider belt all my friends have them, like six we ride together no one has clutch problems

More costly than $429 dan? Will the teams run same Dalton ramps that our Yamaha clutch does,if not than I have to buy new ramps again, and how about the belts, can we use our belts on it.Easy fix for all the Primary issues...
TEAM
Cheaper then apex clutch which has less OD and is more costly and will still rattle!

What is the difference in sheave diameter between the Apex and Side Winder primary clutch?

Apex 8.25What is the difference in sheave diameter between the Apex and Side Winder primary clutch?
Winder just shy of 9
I think the Winder sheave angles are 13.5 vs the Apex at 14.5

Great Thanks!
That is quite a significant diameter increase.

Yes you will have to buy ramps/ weights and yes wider belt better for the HP, how much to rebuild broken clutch, parts, rebalance, doctor bill. Just run until broke and then you have to do something. If your ok just stay with stock clutch. If you spend money on tunes, studs, helix, springs, belts, so what’s $429 primary to handle the HP or stay stock.More costly than $429 dan? Will the teams run same Dalton ramps that our Yamaha clutch does,if not than I have to buy new ramps again, and how about the belts, can we use our belts on it.

Pete, I said LESS costly, not more.More costly than $429 dan? Will the teams run same Dalton ramps that our Yamaha clutch does,if not than I have to buy new ramps again, and how about the belts, can we use our belts on it.
And yes, the cost of an uncalibrated TEAM is less than an uncalibrated Apex clutch which will still rattle apart with a 3 cyl.
Under 300 for my cost.
Either way I wouldn't want a YAM primary with their narrow rollers and less OD, when there is one clutch being proven on every Cat 998 sold....Maybe there is the odd one down but I read HCS daily and nothing so far since the recall. And these cat guys all run SAME ENGINE AND SAME TUNES as us....its truly apples to apples since most of them geared to 21/41 or 22/41.
Sell the Daltons I have now, and buy new daltons for the TEAM, nothing even close in cost to this that is proven. Even Tapp and Pro4 have very little out there running on winders compared to how many TEAMs are out there running them. And these aftermarket clutches are 4 to 5 times the cost!
Bottom line is, big power needs a better primary. YAM must have sourced out these clutches or maybe they got rid of all their smart engineers? LOL

Geez, the money some people throw at these things is insane. Fat chance I'm trading up to any other clutch. I haven't had any issues running the most power I can get on pump gas(270ish) even though I know the clutch isn't designed for that much power. I can only get a couple thousand miles on in a season, so I'll take my chances on it blowing apart which is very unlikely. The clutch in the picture that started this thread had 7300 miles on it, the roller is missing and it was aftermarket.
I'd rather put money towards trading more often or taking my bride out for dinner.

Wow,thats an awesome price,is that price for anyone? I just got my ultimax xs825 you suggested and my daltons only have one ride on them, just thinking out loud, nice pics of your lake and trails. So what do you think the total cost may be Dan? Clutch, dalton ramps, and new belt? I did look up that clutch, but don't know if its 33 taper or 30 taper, and what dia. is it 8.0 inch.Pete, I said LESS costly, not more.
