pros/cons of solid motor mounts?

Like the topic says, what are some of the pros/cons to solid motor mounts? I'm gonna have my motor out this summer and thinking about putting them in. I know one of the big pros would be constant bent alignment.
I really haven't heard many cons. Would you get more vibrations?

I haven't done it in a sled so I really shouldn't reply but solid motor mounts in a car was a vibration nightmare! I couldn't take it had to put in at least poly.

We have been running them for 3 years now in every sled we build, these 4 strokes are Swiss Watch Smooth, so Vibration is not a problem.

I will Not build a Sled without them, the Motor Clutch alignment is far too important to putting power through the belt.

All my experience I have never seen any drawbacks to running them.

we have been installing solid mounts in blocks for years now.It's a must in order to keep the clutch centers in place under boost.On a 4 cylinder engine,harmonics are near unnoticable buy you do get a bit from a 3 cylinder.

If I use the solid motor mounts would be able to also solid mount my Impulse header to the deltabox vs using a rubber mount like Impulse uses?

I still would not mount it solid.

In my case, I have TWO boosted sled with solid mounts...


and even with all the kind of efforts I put in these to keep the engine from moving around at all, in fact the engine still move a little bit under full load.

How do you tell? I run stock mounts on my Sc apex and a used belt lasted 1500 miles how do you tell that your motor is moving?

I know I'm not at the power levels you guys are so maybe its a mute point on something less then 350hp.

With a Rubber Isolator YES.

Simple as:

Perfect clutch center to center before....


then go for a few runs.


measure the center - center has shrunk by like 1/10" that tell me the engine moved back 1/10"

done this many many times on both my solid mounted sleds.


Rubber mounts are much worse.

How can it still move with solid mounts? Where is the play? Does that mean your whole chassis is flexing, 'cause that can't be good. Or is it just the play in the bolt holes for the solid mounts that is moving around?

I don't really know what happens..

but every now and then I have to re-align the engine to get it back to perfection.

I event tried overtorquing the bolts to 55# but same thing happens.
