Anyone ever use the pull start on their Grizz? I tried mine and it damn near ripped my arm off. Does it get any easier when the motor is broke in? Hopefully I'll never need it but if I would I don't think it'll do me much good.

No way
If my Grizz battery ever goes down I'll be walking.
Supposedly it releases compression when you pull it until you meet resistance, slightly release the pressure and then pull again. I can't get it to turn-over, so good luck.

I had to use it when we were on the Hatfield- McCoy trail , when warm I can start it with one arm ,cold you better use 2 hands and try not to kiss the seat.

I haven't tried this one but I did start my 00 griz several times with the rope. Not too bad when you consider the options.

After letting it warm up I was able to start it with the pull-starter. No way when its cold.

I'll try it when it's warm. It would be nice to know you can use it if you have to.

Ganz, when you are all alone miles from the truck with a dead battery you will get angry enough to pull start it.

I was showing off my beast to couple of pollaris boys. My Grizz only has about 120miles on it and with the engine cold and outdoor temp ~60F, it started after 5-6 good (yea, hard) pulls.
Ron just got quiet and said, "yea but I have jumper cables", to which I said: yea, but I'll never need to use them

There is a trick to pull starting a Grizz, first stand on the foot rest and pull gently on the pull cord until you feel it get really stiff/hard to pull anymore, then let it all the way back in and with both hands and still standing on the foot rest, pull it real hard with both hands and it will start. The guy at my dealer showed me this when it was brand new and it started right up. I have tried this a few times just to keep in practice and it starts for me every time even when cold. I am only 5 foot 8 and 185lbs and not a weight lifter by any stretch! Give it a try and make sure you use both hands! Good luck.......Irv
