So an update, I found a nice smooth hard pack lake to run on and in the shortish distance I saw 116mph this time. I'm seeing just under 8900rpm. I'm just too chicken to hold it longer lol I much rather have the 20-60mph acceleration than the top speed I think.
@ROCKERDAN we need you to get a Team clutch setup done and let us all know how-to lol
Definitely do the big pulls(over 90 or so) on a lake....we don't want to lose any Winder owners/TY members. And we don't want to endanger any 'touring' riders. On a trail like that, where its not flat and you cannot see for at least a mile unobstructed its just not the safest thing to do IMO. Im not one to preach as we ride some very tight trails at a pace that most would call unsafe....but just take care out there people. Anytime you are not comortable with speeds that means its typically long past being safe...lol
If you are running good fuel, you can hold that bitch down til she flickers a knock lite...Got lots of guys doing it all the time. But we are also guys who inspect rollers, belts and moveable sheave often. Dont be the guy who gets on and rides it 120 and not checking things over closely after each ride. SCHITT happens fast at 120.
Once on a lake, that whole "nervous feeling" of big speeds is gone, as there is nothing whipping by and you have thousands of feet of wide open space all around.
The 998 is by far the most powerful sled that the average Joe can own now, and with these tunes we gotta just use alittle extra caution... On the trail, stuff can happen 3 times as fast with the winder as it did just one sled ago, due to the big power. Brakes aren't the best on these either.
Be fast, but be SAFE doing it gang.
