I know schmidtbros has the cold air intake systems but is there a noticeable difference? Do they really create the horsepower they are claiming? I am not a fan of the small circle ones. I was thinking of doing it myself with frogskinz. It doesn't seem like it will be that hard. Will it matter how big the holes are?

The previous owner installed the SB kits on my sled. Does it work? I have nothing to compare it to really. It does sound good and I cant get enough weight on the stock arms to get the RPMS down. I'm not sure if that's an indication of increased power or not... I am pretty sure that Allen has dynoed his cold air kit and found it to make more power.
I removed the whole cover and never noticed anything but way more noise. Try that and see what you think.

I did order a set of frogzskins after going to try and do my own. I got a lot of info from Mike on here thanks to him. According to an old topic it does increase the hp on a dyno but not enough to make a huge difference in the field it seems. All in all though more ventilation and cold air in to the motor can only be doing it good.

When you get some time, this thread (link below) has some good information on modifying the Phazer intake system. I have added UNI pods in the past, and even tried running with the cover completely off, and never really noticed any more power, but I do feel like there is more power to be had through the intake...I'm just not sure how. On my last ride of the year last season, I ended up riding my sled at full throttle (unintentionally) into some trees. The sled tipped to the right and caught a tree right on the airbox, shattering it. Once we got it back out of the woods and started again, it wouldn't idle but ran okay enough to drive a short ways back to the truck.
The intake was VERY loud with the upper portion of the box and rubber 'horns' gone, and the throttle response was unreal, as was the 'power' felt when pressing the throttle. I don't think the airbox alone is restrictive enough to have made this change, and my guess is that having the two small hoses (from the air pressure sensors to the throttle body) disconnected probably had more to do with it. Maybe it allowed the engine to react a little faster and run a bit (or a lot) more lean, as the pressure sensors were likely still telling the computer that the engine was receiving the same airflow it would at idle, when in reality it was sucking in more than ever before (at any given throttle position).
Now I'm not saying everyone should go disconnect their pressure sensors and drive around with no airbox, but if you have it off already and are feeling ballsy, it would be an interesting experience, to say the least. Anyway, here's the link to that thread I mentioned above:
