Guys, we're having an annual "Run What Yeah Brung" event this Sunday, and I'm gonna give it a hook, figure I got nothing to lose. There should be all kinds of sleds there and with all kinds of mods, however, I'll be running mine pretty much stock except for the Yosh muffler mod and the 1.5" Intense track. I'm looking for suggestions from guys who have good experience with this sled for straight line racing on snow. Of course it's an all in fun event, but it would still be awesome to put on a good show and hold my own or even more. I already ran the sled against some good competition and the results were surprising, but it never hurts to have a little more info and feedback from experienced guys, which I'm sure are on here. We'll more than likely run anywhere from 660-1000 feet, more often the latter of the two or even further (as some can't figure out how to let off till they win :flag: ), so I guess suspension settings are the most important factor for me since I'm not really changing anything else. I currently run about 190lbs plus gear, I have my rear torsion springs on hard for bangin around, and my rear compression is on 2 clicks out from full stiff, and the rebound is set for quick response in the stutters, so probably on the softest damping setting there. Anyway, offer some suggestions and advice if you can think of anything, and I'll do the rest. Like I said, I've raised a few eyebrows already with the sled, so let's hope I can get it to perform even better !

hopefully its 660 put torsion springs soft I am about same weight hooks good that pipe definitely helps as does mine now all you have to do is win good luck

pull the limiters as tight as possible and id put as little air in the floats as possible too. Get it as low to the ground as you can

OK, Thanks for the suggestions guys. Now what about the rear suspension ? Would you guys recommend I run the rear shocks soft in compression and rebound, or somehwere in the middle ? I don't want to be seeing blue sky all day like an XP, I want just enough ski lift on the holeshot to get the most track on the ground and as best as possible ! With the 1.5" lug, it hooks up best in mildly packed snow, so I'm gonna try and stay away from the area where everyone's been running and look for better traction. So keep adding your input guys, much appreciated ! ;)!

This is key; when it's time to go, push the little flippy thing on the handlebar all the way forward.

I'll try and remember that part, thanks ;):D

Well, tomorrow's the big day ! Gonna get her ready today, start off with a fresh belt (and break it in properly of course) and clean the clutch sheaves, then on to some suspension adjustments. Intelligent comments and suggestions are welcome ;)!

Leave only a couple gallons of gas in the sled.

Put on the stock carbides that came with the sled so you don't cut down to ice or real hard snow or catch a rut and dart like you might with sharper carbides.

Depending how well your sled hooks up you may want to test out how the sled responds to where you sit on the sled. You may not have to start standing on the bumper so to speak as opposed to just sitting back on the seat.
The power used to lift the sled skyward could be used to move the sled forward.

I know what you mean by seat positioning. Last weekend, I sat back on the seat instead of standing as far back as I should have, stupid me had my rear suspension set up for ditchbanging, Hard on the torsion springs and full stiff on the compression with full soft on the rebound damping, so the rear didn't squat as well as I would have liked on the holeshot, but it still did well for a few runs. However, I know it could have hooked up better with the proper adjustments. This time, I set the torsion springs on Medium, the rear shocks are both in the middle on standard settings for both compression and rebound, and the suspension has a lot more reaction when I even just sit on the sled, so I'm confident that it's going to hook up a lot better as long as I pick the right place to launch from. Like I said, this track is ideal for the holeshot as long as I get off on some moderately hard to soft snow, but I can easily play around with suspension settings if it doesn't work out as planned, guess I'll find out tomorrow. Thanks for the pointers ;)!

put the comp on 0 and springs on soft in the rear.
Drop the front end.

Well guys, yesterday was a pretty good day. We had a good turnout as usual, and there was some good races. Conditions were very good, but as the day went on and the temps went up, the snow turned to marbles and traction was inconsistent, so for the most part, guys traded wins with each other. There were some really good working sleds out there, you could easily tell who did their homework. I was happy with my results for the most part, won a few, lost a few, and when it hooked up good, I was in the top 2, but like I said, the same pretty much went for everyone. I went up against some big HP machines and held my own, so I did what I hoped to do. Had some laughs and talked with some guys ya don't see very often until events like this, and I met a few new guys as well, couldn't have asked for a better day !

Anyway, on with the pics....

Well, thats all you gotta say about your race day?? Lets hear how you did against the F7's or any XP 800's. Start naming some sleds you beat or had a hard time beating.

On a side note. That looks like a nice race strip you have there.

looks like you were getting beat all I saw was pics of artic cats way to represent

I ran quite a few different sleds, but unfortunately, not many pics as I was the guy holding the camera for most of the day, and it's kinda hard to get shots of yourself while flying by @ 100 mph simultaneously. Some of the sleds I ran were F7's, Crossfire 8, Fusion 600 and 900, Edge X 700, Rev 600 HO, Rev 800 HO PTek, Mach Z's, F 1000, Apex GT, Attak, and Apex Mtn. The ones I was ahead of without question were the Edge X 700, the Rev 600 and 800 HO, the Attak and the Apex Mtn. I had a great run against an Apex GT, he got me out of the hole by a length in one race and at 660 feet I was gaining hard and ready to pass at 800 feet when he let off, even said himself that he knew I was going to, go figure eh. On our second run, I got him out of the hole and that was the end of him, he let off shortly after launching, but it was already over from what I saw. Had a great run with a Fusion 900, side by side to 1000', but twice he got me by a length or two at the 1000' mark. The one pic where I'm behind is myself up against 2 newer Mach Z's, and everyone knows they are fast sleds, but at 660', they were only 2 lengths ahead and never pulled away any further at the 1000' mark either. I was really surprised with this run because I had to let off shortly after launching to avoid colliding with one of the Machs, and right then and there, I knew I was getting passed, yet I stayed in it just to see how I'd do. Nobody ran an XP 800 because none showed up, but I would have liked to. Like I said guys, we all traded wins for the most part, there wasn't a single sled there that consistently walked any of the others, the event was all in fun, and a lot of the folks involved were friends, so it's not worth getting into it. We all had fun and that was the main thing. Perhaps on a better day, and earlier in the season when the temps won't turn the strip into a bowl of soup, maybe then we'll have better, more consistent results. All I know is I was told by many others that my sled worked very good, and they were very surprised with it, couldn't believe I was beating some big competition.
