Finnally got some snow to ride so back to fine tuning the phazer. I must be getting older because I just cant stand the noise of the excell pipe anymore. First thing I noticed is the packing was actually burnt up and kinda nonexistant in the center... I also made a funnel/baffle out of some "holey" stainless I had in the shop and tacked it in the straight through baffle. I am happy with how the idle sound is but WOT is still ear ringing. Next idea is putting a V in the spot of the baffle I made quick tonight, to divert exhaust through the packing. I would divert it to tthe left and right sides since that is the sides with the deepest packing since its and oval shapped muffler. Will that hurt performance much or wont that add much back pressure? or does it need more back pressure anyways? thoughts welcome! Lovin 20 mpg and not filling up with 2 smoke oil!!!!! Girlfriend is trying out riding on one of my parents long track phazer 2's, great old sled but just makes me love 4 strokes more!
Kinda see the funnel/baffle I put on the inside
burnt packing
Decent amount of room to work with

I heard Turbochargers quiet down the exhaust! My Ultra Q had been holding up quite well.

Funny thing is I just helped build a complete custom turbo'ed apex for my cousin. I'm currently searching for some parts to turbo the Phazer... Tig welder I got this summer is getting used A LOT! But turbos will be another topic probly next fall!

Is the MSR silent sport packing the stuff I should be looking for? 450 gram bag seem like the right size? Also what sites do you guys order from usually, I see quite a few sites offer it and its all right around $20.
Thanks!

I'm in the same boat, After discussing it with Ulmer Racing it sound like the stock injectors and fuel pump will support 7-8psi boost with proper tuning. The Power Commander v is now able to control fuel AND ignition on twin cyclinder engine along with an optional PTI model which comes with a 3bar map sensor that's basically a perfect all I one unit for doing a mild, flat lander ,5psi, 91octane trail turbo on a phazer.ThatOneGuy said:Funny thing is I just helped build a complete custom turbo'ed apex for my cousin. Hmmmmmm, you deffinately have to let me in on anything you find out on fuel programing! Thats the only hurdle I can see if I would start the project. My idea was under 5lbs of boost to hopefully make stock survive. Also my cousin's apex we run the charge tube in the tunnel and the intake I made (no intercooler) is always cold to the touch so I dont see much of a need for an intercooler but would be simple to add. If the fuel programer is reasonable I'm deffinatly gonna start collecting pieces!

Thanks!
the stuff you are looking for is made in Germany, and I would expect it costs a lot more than 20 dollars....
not sure about the MSR stuff.
you can expect an improvement, but not a miracle. good luck!

Stuff I use is carried by Moose Racing.
