Real World 1500 Mile Low Down of new Ski Doo XR-S 900 Turbo vs. SideWinder

image.jpeg
What it currently looks like.

The problem with the 900t is not reliability, nor longevity. Its the LACK of performance feel. There really is only one issue with that sled, and its such a big issue that noone who rides with performance in mind will want one, unless they never test rode one first.

The throttle system is a huge fail, and has easily become the most well known issue brought up by all test riders and magazine/tv riders.

This is the reason i went 850 over 900t....heck when they are tuned the throttle is worse then stock even.

Dan
Dan,You must not have ridden a good one then ?Stk the 900t as stated sucked but was made better for me with better clutching .After my TD 205 tune ,and 3 updates from Ben ,It's very good .I put over 3500 miles on it ,only 1/2 mile around the yard with my 270 hp winder .and another 1500 miles on between my 2 850s .Sure it takes getting use to ,but like you ,i like to tinker and have time .As far as not seeing many out riding ,It's like the car/truck one drives .You tend to notice them more .They all have their place and have issues .Good luck with the 850 .Hope BRP brings out a better front end soon .

I know you like your 900t Ken but honestly like me you are old. The 900t is for women and old guys like us. You know the only reason you don't ride your tuned Winder is all that power scares you.

Me too. Their front end flat out sucks next to the cat and Polaris. And hope they fix the rear suspension to keep the front end down too when they doo decide to bring out a powerful engine.

Why would one add power if they were scared ?I tune everything i own ,even my TDI Q5 and Q7 Audis ,But yup,in a few days i'll be 64 and the good lord has given me good health as i don't drink or smoke and eat healthy .

Whenever someone says “it takes getting use too” they have talked themselves into something. A sled that truly is better, will feel better almost instantly, especially if you’ve been riding sleds all your life.
A friend of mine said this years ago about one of his sleds and urged me to ride his Rev. We swapped for 30 miles and I couldn’t get him to give my sled back!!!! He got so used to riding garbage that he became comfortable with it.
Just a ride around the yard???? You forgot how much fun a 270hp Winder is.....or you just don’t use the power.:dunno:

You are not going to talk Ken into anything. He tells it like it is to everybody because his filter has been broken forever. He also knows what he's talking about because he has done it all at one time or another.

You know I'm busting your chops right Ken.

I don't worry about the simple things Joe .Ask Craig Marchbank about how fast my PS sleds were at Hay Days .His 1000s couldn't beat our 800s .We also have 4 WC at Eagle River with our Chapparrals Sleds around here are 24/7 .Even my 92 and 95 V Max4s were most times in the finals on the grass .Done with that now though .Just back pack riding and mid week day trips .

I guess I’m too much of a “Whipper Snapper” yet, I like the Big Power!
I must still be a "whipper snapper" to those that know the phrase, turning 65 soon and love the pull!! I don't consider myself a girlie type. But I guess some of you are. Lol . Time to enjoy my non stock Buick big block GS.
