Real World 1500 Mile Low Down of new Ski Doo XR-S 900 Turbo vs. SideWinder

Yamaha hired the Karpik brothers (from FAST INC.) fame to design the front suspension of the race Nytro back in the days they still had a presence in racing.

I miss those days.

I had a nitro, front end sucked, dangerous, had to replace bushings several times. I read a article back when they made the nitro that the race team wouldn’t race it because front end was dangerous. Not a arctic cat front end!!!

The last Race front end was nothing like consumer version.

I'm glad I bought my 17 Winder and didn't wait till 19. I'm sure the 18 buyers feel the same way. There is no way I would buy an SRX with that track and electronic nightmare shocks. I'm thinking a cold Winter with lots of ice build up under the tunnel will be taking out wires. Guys will have to get used to riding those sleds with the shocks set at factory default settings. Oh and the prices of the 19's is mind blowing!!
Gotta love these trouble free shocks on the new srx they definitely hit a home run here, this sled handles and rides like a dream glad i waited until 2019 to buy

I like the location of the intercooler on the Doo better than our Winders. In any snow at all the Winder intercooler gets plugged up. I find myself cleaning it out often in deep snow.
Get the cat grill for $14 and attach frog skin to it then the snow falls off

My buds who were all juiced up on the 900t have now realized it's not anything they would want... To me it's a sled in "no man's land".... It's a not light and playful two stroke... And not a hyper performance four-stroke....

To me... If one wanted to try boosting there 900t.... Just well setup a sidewinder stock power and it's the "known" vs who knows... As usual Doo misses the mark priesting their cash cow etec... The real motor to turbo has been and always will be that 1200... Shame

As to the srx...I think the 1" track is a backwards step for all but a few... The electronic shock is a cool idea.. And maybe... Just maybe it'll love trouble free this time..
I spoke with fox regarding the electronic shock.... From the call... That shock will perform substantially as well as the qs3..

That said...I like where I'm at right now..

Shock revalve and minor tweaks...

I'll wait for Yamaha 2020 new iron
Looks like skidoo has a differnt market planned for the 900T after all, the women need new a new ride now and then should be a good women's sled

Couple of local young lads through my shop recently. One on an 850 and the other on a beat up 06 Apex. According to them the 850 kills it in a drag race, however if they roll into it at high speed, the Apex takes it....just.
There's something wrong with the apex probably poor stock clutching, they take some minor clutching to make them fly, no stock 850 doo would touch a well set up stock apex

While reading the article i popped in on the Polaris articles.
Polaris claims the new 850 PATRIOT motor will be the MOST powerful, quickest spooling, longest lasting 2-stroke ever!

In the lightest chassis, this may be ahead of the 850 DOO & maybe up the Sidewinders' derriere...
Polaris=(p)ull (o)ff (l)ake (a)nd (r)epair (i)n (s)hop had too many of them, they have no reliability and to be sled of the year, we can keep an eye on the in our rear view mirrors on the trail

There must be a lot of women buying sleds these days and very few guys. The 900t probably outsold any 998 Yamaha by about 100 to 1.
