Real World 1500 Mile Low Down of new Ski Doo XR-S 900 Turbo vs. SideWinder

See the four stroke is unique in that it makes a very broad easy to clutch engine that makes torque and hp well before and well past its initial peak. Something the two strokes don't do, they hit peak and fall on their face. I think the 900T will have a very nice broad torque band. I have not seen a graph on it yet. I like the 900T because it fits in that 150hp range that Yamaha dropped from their lineup. I like all sleds basically as has been said they excite me and the fun I get sledding is so rewarding. Yes I love my Apex but every-time I take my Warrior for a spin I remember what started me on the four stroke kick. :4STroke::yam:

You need to just go away and stay away. You are one of these know-it-all’s that really just likes to blab on and on about nothing just to make yourself look knowledgeable, and every time you open your mouth #*$&@ falls out and you prove you are not.

You are only impressing yourself here, anyone with a brain can see right thru the ramblings of pure stupidity.

Let it go dude! You haven’t a clue.

I think I might like the ski-doo if it was a V-4 900cc turbo that reved up to somewheres around 13k rpm. Then it would definitely make Winder power! Probably more actually.

keep it civil guys. only warning.
Civility went out the window a long time ago in this one but I figured these guys deserved each other since have never seen any one of them give up!

Let’s keep this going. In the Torque vs HP summer debate how does a electric motor fit in? Still not good enough for a sled but the day will come. It’s no joke either. Buddy took me for a ride in a Tesla and I could not believe the pull of that thing.

How'd you like the dash in it ? My buddy has one .

Been working on Hybrids since the beginning, they have come a LONG way.

Ya.....friend of mine has 2 top of the line Tesla’s. Runs 10’s, max torque @ 0 rpm. Think he was getting 1.4 60 ft times. Technology.

Who said anything about peak torque? Again increase torque and hp increases as well, more torque more hp! Simple math! Sidewinder has increased torque at about the same RPM as Say a 850 Doo the sidewinder makes more torque so it makes more hp. Increase torque at any rpm and hp increases along with it. Torque is king HP is the result.
High torque at the part of the power curve where high horsepower is, can be likened to Santy Claus or the Tooth Fairy - there's no such thing!

There's a bunch of them out there, but this guy does a pretty good job of explaining it in simple enough terms for me. He also has one on electric motors Cannondale.

Backs up what ClutchMaster, myself and a bunch of others have been trying to say all along. HP wins all day over TQ.

TQ is the force applied, HP does the work. As long as you have a wide power band with high RPM HP you will have a fast machine. More HP and RPM = more wins.

Big TQ will NOT do the work.

Harleys are slow and multi cylinder ricers put it to them all day long. Low RPM hi-TQ Harley will need twice the displacement to compete, just look at NHRA rules. It's not rocket science!

Hey back on track with the 900 Doo.

I'd have a V-4 900 Doo turbo with RPM at 13k if they could build us one of them! That would make huge HP and be super efficient on every level. Even better at 15k RPM! That would be the fastest sled ever built bar none. Could even do it without a turbo and squash them all HP wise, even a tuned winder!

And if was a NA it would run the same run after run and no worries about intercooler temps too!

I'm getting to the point of going back to a NA sled like a 1200 Doo and adding a big turbo to it to get away from these tiny heat producing turbos the factory is trying to run and overheating the intercooler so dang rapidly.

Yep, like Motogp bikes. Low torque at high RPM = big HP.

Maybe a v 4 Yamaha motor with a 4 barrel like we use on the mini sprint cars .When we first showed up with one the kaw and Suzuki guys Laughed. After the first 2 laps they wern't laughing .
