Recommendations for ordering parts on-line?

Also I suggest copying the part number and pasting it into ebay, Ive had pretty good luck with that. Otherwise I have found two things in the classified section now for great deal.s

These people seem to be the cheapest I have found.

I agree. this place absolutely has the best prices around and i have probably ordered from them 25+ times.
lately though i have been noticing things are taking longer and longer to ship which most times i can deal with but sometimes it can create a real problem.
Also thier shipping is starting to get out of control.
They do not offer usps flat rate shipping which would really help out on shipping costs.
To me it appears that everytime you add something to your cart the shippin cost goes up.
for instance i just picked out a random bearing and added it to my cart.
1 bearing =14.03 shipping
4 bearings =14.89
6 bearings =21.46
Im not a regular ups or fedex shipper and i dont know costs but it doesn't make sens to me that the jump in cost is so large. Actually it kinda irritates me and for that reason alone i have stopped buying from them.

I have used Dillon brothers for honda atv parts. Pricing and shipping have been great. no complaints at all. they do carry yamaha sled parts so i might give them a call in the off season just to test the waters.

I have also used kevin at port yamaha and had great results so far and will probably continue to use port untill i can get decent local parts pricing.

Babbits in MI seem to have the best parts. I wouldnt necessarily order local they arent always cheaper. Always compare, certain places are not always cheaper on the same parts. Ive seen differenec in 20-40 bucks on the same part and more on high dollar parts. Sled parts are rediculous enough so i try to save money when i can

I have not found babbits to be a good place to deal with. if you have a problem there is very little customer support.
to me it seems like they only care about the initial sale and nothing more.

For me it is not really about getting the best price. i would be thrilled to go into the local dealer and buy parts if i could only get some sort of discount and maybe a smile. say maybe 10% would be all i ask but they dont give any discount and dont even say have a nice day after they rape you. Honestly, the counter guys make me feel like i am bothering them everytime i walk through the doors

Only order from the States if they ship via USPS. Port Yamaha has an excellent reputation. If you live near the border, it's worth the drive sometimes.

Thanks everyone for your input; I just placed my order through Port Yamaha. Call Kevin direct got to talk to a live person and saved almost $400 and he was able to confirm that the parts are in stock at Yamaha and that I should have them by Wed of next week.

Where are you from zzmrnc, just curious where you live to see how much they are charging you for shipping?

I am in Oshawa but have never ordered from Port.

SHS Powersports I found had some of the best prices and will take back an item if you are not happy w/ the fit/finish when put on your sled.

I'm from St. Catharines, ON and I have an address in Niagara Fall, NY that I use for shipping; Port shipping charge was $19.50.

Yeah a lot of dealers I have found around here have piss poor business skills. You either walk in there and guys are BSing and smoking or having a donut and after 5mins ask what you need. Or they make you sound like an idiot and sit there and tell them what you need, when in turn they should be telling you what you need since their experts. Not all the dealers are the same but I have been to quite a few in different areas and many seem to have the same attitude.

xtreme and babbitts

xtreme really jerked me around last year. acted like parts were in stock, then told me "warehouse" problems(not theirs, yamaha warehouse in california). turns out parts were still in japan, had to ship and clear customs. this was before the tsunami and earthquake. babbitts charges "flat rate" shipping, like a lot of the other crooks. charged 19.00 to ship a 2x3x3 inch box with 7 carburetor jets in it.

Thats another I find annoying some places is they wont do flate rate or do cost shipping. They will charge you 15 bucks for a $2 screw to get shipped to you
