So to be clear, we're waiting to find out if there will be a re flash for: a hot start issue, Rev limiter increase, and grips or something?
No.. only for the hot start.. and if you just crank the key and not let the gauge turn on, it will start every time...
Don't forget about the low idle and the code many have seen.

I beg to differ! Tried to start mine every way possible with hot start issue. Nothing worked but time.No.. only for the hot start.. and if you just crank the key and not let the gauge turn on, it will start every time...

I have 2 vipers and this is what I have found that works for me.... I am sure its all over the board considering whose CDI is in the sled.

It is truly crazy how different each of these sleds are. Some have the start issues and others like me have never had an issue. Mine has had 7 other warranty issues and others not a single one. In the past if the rings were soft they all were soft. If the hand warmers did not work none of them did, if they handled like a pig they all did.
I hear from guys that love the set up and others that hate it. I can understand the diff between the RTX/ LTX and the XTX due to the uncoupled rear but the diff between what I read and hear of guys on the same chasis it is wild.

I find i have better luck if i hear the fuel pump and wait for the gauge to fully cycle it starts most times.
It will start hard but it almost always starts.
For me, what works is to keep cranking till its running. If you let off the key too soon its over and im screwing with it for 15-20 mins to get it to start
I hate this because i just know im doing long term damage to my starter.

I only had the hot start issue once but I was curious. I asked some one who had the issue often and he put a hot air diverter under the hood to route hot air from the radiator away from the intake and it solved his hot start issue. Not naming him to avoid another round of somebody having to defend themselves.
But that was only one test and it seems not all hot start issues are the same by reading these posts. I do think forcing hot air from the radiator directly into the air box opening cannot help.

I have found the same to be true with my 2011 Apex. I always turn the key right to the crank position on a hot start without allowing the fuel pump to cycle. Fires up right away. Repeated cycling of the key will flood the engine every time. I'm sure the same is true with the Viper.

My theory is similar. Looking at my airbox I see that the only opening for air is on the underside of the air box and there is no opening on top. This is fine while your moving as cold air is coming in the nose and all the other openings in the hood. But when you stop all the hot air from under the hood is trapped in the airbox and guess what the air temp sensor is right in the top corner gettting soaked with heat. So when you go to start it the ECU thinks it's over 100 degrees outside.
Bottom line is it's a modern electronically controlled fuel injected engine. There should not have to be a secret combination to get it started. Period.

on the bright side, a factory re flash and that updated windshield will keep a lot of us 14 owners happy. it's like anything else, it'll take 2-3 model years of updates to get all the bugs worked out. so i guess in theory, the 2018 viper, should be a home run lol. i allow my viper to cycle the fuel pump twice when cold starting, fires right up. on hot starts i cycle nothing, maybe a second or two. also firs right up

Dealer just called and said he attended the service training and learned that a flash will be avaiable around the middle of November. He mentioned cold and warm starting. I was having the warm starting issues.

Why does everyone think this heat soak theory? If that was the case wouldn't more sleds have the problem? Kinda curious as my sled didn't have one issue with the start/stop. I have just over 1000 miles and I feel I turned mine off and on a million times. kinda sounds like mythbuster I says its plausible... lol
Just curious...
