I did not take any before pictures, I was at work where I took them apart and wanted to get them done ASAP for Weasel....but will let Weasel tell you how dark, full of belt dust and evidence of belt slipping was going on.
The area in concern is where the towers that bolt up to the helix go thru the windows on the sheave that has the steel splined shaft. There is a line that is from the foundry mold that causes a casting ridge..... In Weasels case, this cast flashing was not removed properly.
Also, the helix would not sit flat on the towers and this was because the diameter on the helix was too large to fit inside the towers of the secondary. (This was checked without the spring installed). The towers were being pushed outwards more toward the casting flash, causing the secondary to not move.
The helix showed that the secondary wasn't moving throughout the whole shift (only had marks from the pucks 1/2 way down the ramps). No marks on the outside of the helix. But there were marks on the outsides of the towers of the secondary

NOS-PRO, was the flashing on the secondary marking the helix in any way? Would be very interested to see pictures.

Fiddler, I too am not a top speed junkie. But, my nytro would do 110 to 113 on the speedo( which is like 100 mph) and that's what I'm looking for. I ride most of the time in the 45 to 65 mph range which the sled is great for but on nice long stretches I also like to open it up and try for the c- note.
And yes, I'm like a six year old too. I got all four shocks revalved on Saturday and terry has my clutches done so this sled will be a totally different beast the next time I throw my leg over the seat. CAN'T WAIT!!!!! I will definitely report back and give you all the progress report.

Wow almost like buying a new one! Nice

Dviper. I would not bother slowly taking all my mods out. Gas mileage dropped way down and no more top end

I'm still trying to figure that out two, nothing seems to work and im done spending money one this thing. Clutch pulled out this week gas dropped 30-40 miles per tank I think it may be combination of clutch and header. Getting very frustrated. I'm not a high speed driver but this is crazy

Just got my glasses. Now I can see what you did for mods. I was gonna put the straight line header and pcv with their map. But that's another grand.

Want to bring this back to the top. I've got to start by saying " thank you " to nos-pro for all the help he has given me and for sharing his knowledge and his skills with someone that he really doesn't know except for talking on the phone. He is a great guy and not afraid to help in any way he could. He got my blue and white rtx le with the 1.7 in. track to do 91 mph on far from ideal conditions. Iwas running with and xtx yesterday and on that sled I've seen 98 mph on, with the conditions yesterday on that same xtx I could only see 91 so for my sled to run 91 beside his I would say that my rtx le could pull 98 to 100 mph in ideal conditions. Nos-pro machined my clutches and basically walked me through exactly what I had do to achieve my desired results. I now have engagement that is right around 2800 rpm's and a sled that is a rocket. Some of these sleds come awesome from the factory and some, like mine, are a real turd! With Terry's help he got my sled from going from a good trail sled that would peek out at 74 mph to a fantastic trail sled that could do the c-note on proper conditions. Terry is not only a fellow sledder but now I think he has become a friend.
Thanks again!!! Weasel

So lets get yours going! Start by taking the clutches apart and posting lots of pictures. Maybe we can spot something.

I had to put stock clutching back in my gas was down to 108 miles per tank took it to guy near house said it was set up for 2 stroke. Put all stock back in and now at 156 miles per tank. He put test spring in for me. He only works on Yamaha 4 strokes seems very knowledgable . I'm gonna have to go back to clutching on the cheap to see what you guys are using and start over.

I am not using clutching on the cheap. But they will help also. Hopefully we can get you going good with the parts you have already.
