My buddy did this last year on his XF 7000. Never had an issue. Started in -30 degree weather with no hiccups. As far as vibration? The belt guard is mounted solid, I would believe there would be just as much vibration where it was mounted originally.

Thanks, Mitch, for posting this!! I've been debating the BOP solution for a while, but didn't want to spend the $100. I did it today. It took me about an hour, and didn't cost anything (except a couple of rivets I had in a drawer)! Worked perfectly.
I have really wanted to do this relocation because it happened to me on the trail last year. I popped a fuse because of a frayed wire on my helmet lens heater. That fuse kills the tail lights and the dashboard. And, I was not in a position to take the hood off on the side of the trail to replace a doggone fuse! Now I have great access to the fuses, thanks to Mitch and the TY family!

You're welcome. I love where it is now. I've wrapped the wiring with the foil heat tape to be safer, but you would really have to blow the crap off a belt at 120 mph to do any damage to the wiring.

I did the same thing this summer except I bolted it the frame above the belt guard, I can still fit a spare belt in there too. I will get a pic of it tomorrow.

Here's my setup very easy to do just take the bracket flip it around and I bolted it to the open hole in the frame. The zip ties are there because the bracket can't clip in when backwards so the zip ties just keep it from coming out.

Does your spare belt just sit there like that or is it mounted?

I just sits in there. It can't move so there's no need for zip ties.Does your spare belt just sit there like that or is it mounted?

I marked the fuel pump fuse with a white dot so I know which one to pull on a cold night...might even pick up a spare just incase I misplace one.

What good does pulling the fuel pump fuse do on a cold night? I thought it was the relay that will occasionally stick?

I was under the impression the hard starts are because the fuse gets too cold....maybe I misunderstood

It's the relay not the fuse that is temperature sensitive. ( sorry the L foot area is in DeltaII chasis)I was under the impression the hard starts are because the fuse gets too cold....maybe I misunderstood
I think the relocation could be very helpful, not sure I will get to it but I should

So guys are heating up the relay and not the fuse? Any way to bring the relay indoors?

my 15 would not start this past season on a very cold morning in Fort kent maine.Turn key and no fuel pump operation, remove the fuel pump relay, warm it up with your hands, and sled starts. Im glad i relocated the fuse box because it happened twice before i had the dealer install a new one. It took 2 riding seasons and 3200 miles before it failed cold. BTW no updated relay from yamaha yet.

So it is the fuse (relay) in the box?
