I am planning to cut off the stock running boards and replace them with aftermarket ones. In the same project I wanna remove the heat exchangers from the running boards. Would it be enough if I add a big rear heat exchanger, as I´m going to install a tunnel extension too so there will be room for that.
If not, do you have any suggestions how to do the cooling system?

Well, no replies so far. These kind of boards I´m going to install next summer, these are for Nytro:
I´ll install a tunnel/rear heat exchanger to go with this setup. Any of you know can I make the coolant run in the edges of that board?

With enough time and money anything is possible. With the tubular design of those boards I'm sure you can make them water tight. I would concentrate on making only one path for the coolant to flow (outside edge?). With all that criss cross of pipe you would get hot spots.

Those MPI coolers look interesting. Very good choice indeed!

I got a new u cooler on my for the tunnel extension when I get around to installing. When I compared surface area my new double U cooler is equivalent to one side of the running board.
The MPI kit wont work in the apex tunnel. If you are keeping the stock exhaust layout (ie running out the back or under the tunnel) then you cant get a u cooler in the tunnel. You dont have large enough extension in the 144 to run a large enough cooler to replace both running boards. Only option is a larger rad and possibly adding another one to the clutch side if you can fit it in.
I haven't found a way to replace the board cooler with something that will suffice yet and still work on the trails.
Go front mount turbo with exhaust dump into the tunnel then you can mount a large U cooler in the tunnel and dont run any studs. That is all I have seen and that wont work for my midwest trail riding.
