How do you know your hitting? I was hitting 9300-9450 today. When that high, it felt like the motor was miss-firing. Where should I be with my RPMs based on my set up(see signature)?

rev limiter is at 9400...you were hitting it. You want to be at 88-8900 or that set up.

What happens when you hit it? Is what I felt the rev limiter? Any idea where I add the weight? Tips?

If feels like the engine is missing or a cylinder is cutting out. ....and purple smoke pours out of the hood vents!!

Contact ulmer racing about your clutching, he'll get you straightened out.

That must have been what i was experiencing this past weekend. BUT, as far as i know the clutching is stock??

Any ideas why this would happen with stock clutching? Maybe a wearing belt?

x2 8800-8950rpm is the sweet spot for this motor

A rev limiter will sounds like a racing bike when they do a burn out with the rear tire and you hear the engine cutting. brappp brapppp brapppp brappp. Basically its a safe feature on engine. Your engine could rev up to 15000 rpm lets say and the manufacturer put a rev limiter to just that limit how high the engine can rev. If 15000 is the max they put a limiter in about 9000-10000 rpm. It's a fail safe to keep the engine from a bad situation.

I disagree with this statment...mine ran best and got its BIG top end 115mph GPS at running between 9150-9350....when it ran at 8800 it was a turd...

Mine seems like that too, runs best around 9000 ish.

Guy's this also depends on your specific sled.. Even slight changes in your belt will make a difference. Track, snow conditions, temperature.. All can play a role.

My rev limiter was kicking in early this year with belt slip in the secondary.
Was ok with easy throttle but if I was hard on it limiter was coming on around 6500 to 7500 rpm. I was playing around with fresh new softer ultimax belt and turned back my secondary spring to 60° and worked good last year. Not many miles last year so I kept the same belt, it's harder now. So I cranked the secondary spring back to 70°.
Seems this motor likes to be loaded at most all times.

hmm..making me think, because nothing is different this year. Did the K&Ns last year and don't remember hitting that high on RPMs, although only rode the hill twice last year. Maybe I should hold off on adjusting until I ride one more time.
