I did the maintenance on both my 2014 viper and my wife's zr 7000 and notice that the actuators were cracked at the bolt holes!! take a look at yours. Just a heads up we are going to bring ours in for warranty!! I never had them apart!!

cant say that wont happen from normal use, but more then likely its from being over tightened. only needs 36" lbs. good catch tho...

they both had the reverse update done from the dealers!!! Both dealers may have over tighten them but something to check I can see it breaking eventually!!! There was movement of both actuators from both cat and yammy(left to right when shifting)cant say that wont happen from normal use, but more then likely its from being over tightened. only needs 36" lbs. good catch tho...

I have mine and my son's apart a few times, the 2014 were extremely tight the first time, surprised the screws did not break, the 2015 came apart easy.
Yours looked like the were over tightened, maybe dealer used impact driver to install

If I remember correctly some had cracked actuators during 2013/2014 season.
Yup over tightened. Loctite and just seat the screws lightly.
Some have come from the factory this way with a crack in one or more corners

Ya I hear you!!!! I think when the dealers(arctic cat and Yamaha) did the reverse update they didn't use a torque wrench! I watched the actuator when switched to reverse and there is movement of the whole assembly on both machines! It's a matter of time that it would let goYup over tightened. Loctite and just seat the screws lightly.

Just had my chaincase cover replaced at the dealer
Went to use reverse and it would not work. I took a closer look and found this.
My reverse no longer works at all.
gonna try to fix it so i can get it back to the dealer. Wish me luck. Lol

ha will not prevent the actuator from working it probably failed like mine and many more. Mine was cracked for weeks till the new one came in. Just plug the wires back in start the sled and hi the reverse button and see if it actuates.

you can leave it off and shift gears manually. That's what I had to do cause it failed on the trail in reverse. took 5 minutes.

Just an fyi
I did try it in the sled. Thats how i know it did not work.
I also tried it out of the sled by powering it with a 12 volt battery. It still would not work
So It absolutely will cause the actuator not to work.
In the first picture you can see a small plunger sticking out the bottom of the actuator.
This plunger should be recessed back into the actuator about 1/4 inch.
This plunger dropped into the wrong location and caused the actuator motor to lock up.
I removed the motor metal cover and while turning it was able to pulled the rotor/commutator up off of the brushes.
I then jb welded the rubber stopper and pin assembly that fell out back into the end of the actuator.
It is working pretty good.
I will test it in the sled tomorrow
