Not sure how this is going to go over on a Yamaha forum, but has anybody looked into the feasability of putting an RMotion rear skid into a Phazer. If the cost is not too astronaumic it would be good to get a rising rate skid for the Phazer. I wonder how much modification it would take to install one. Just a thought...

Why bother? With a good set of shocks the Phazer skid is just as good as any other OEM skid. Horrible shock valving is what kills Yamaha skids from the factory. The rear skid shock is the worst offender with horrible rebound control.

But even with better shocks it still won't be rising rate. Realistically though better shocks will probably be the direction I end up going. I am just wondering if anybody had any incite as to how difficult the install would be and if they think it would work well in the phazer chassis.
Right now the R motion is the best skid on the snow.Cost would be major unless you can find a wrecked sled.It is also not the only rising rate skid.Ours are also just different rate.M10 is falling rate and it also works.Doo just got it right.

With the amount of money you'd spend getting an rMotion, you could pick up a ZX2 or something. A revalve or different shocks would probably be the cheapest route.

Just put on Axis shocks or if you really want a new skid drop in a ZX2.

Semi Rising rate, The springs are rising rate the shock is falling rate on the rear. I think this is part of the reason for the harsh kickback on some of the phazers. Whats odd is looking at the valving specs on Cannondale's website the MTX has more compression AND rebound on the skid shocks than any other Phazer and it doesn't suffer from the harsh kickback. Its also got the weakest springs. I thought my MTX was great out of the box on studder and moderate trail junk but started bottoming on the bigger stuff. I actually preferred to the ride of an IQ, SC5, and even my old fox shocked M10 on my SX-R on the studder/medium type trails. I tossed a Fox Float 1 in the center position and that eliminated 90% of the bottoming out in BIG trail junk but hindered my studder performance some. Next time the Float gets rebuilt I'm going to have the Float II kit installed as I think the "Sticktion" is what is hindering the studder bump performance.

blue,
Ya no crap! I was planning on getting my rear shocks done by Schmidt Bros this year but lack of snow is making me think I wont do anything to the skid this year.
Frick it is end of January and we hit +5 today
Anyway on all kinds of bumps I am nearly EJECTED from my sled it kicks so bad. Worst of any sled I have ever ridden. And I used to have an Enticer II Special Twin LOL
