Has anyone come up with a way to change the Hyfax without removing the skid. I cant figure out anything ,But I thought Maybe that someone may have come up with something?

Thought I saw a hyfax removal tool that was similar to a slide hammer in use. May have been called Slide EZ or EZ Slider. Something like that.

take adj. off track remove screw from front of hyfax may need small amount of heat on screw they are put on with thread locker (lock tight) try to tighten screws first juct a little to get it moving(gives you a chance of not tearing up philips screw head on the removal if they are real tight may consider new screws if you have hard time getting old ones out) pull old hyfaxes out through window in track once you get them moving at the back under wheels where it is straightest :idea:

Storm-chaser, they will fit through if you are doing it in a heated garage so the track is more flexible. You can also trim a windo a little wider with a exacto knife or dremel tool to make it a little easier. I trimmed a window on each side at opposite ends of the track, ie don't trim both openings on the same location. Spraying with a little silicone will also help them slide through.

i installed new ones on my 04 rx1 mtn they were a little wider than window but with a little dish liquid they will go no problem
Just did mine yesterday with it still on trailer outside.
Jacked back up so track off bottom, loosen track, removed slider screws, hammered on slider at screw end, put a little grease in track windowed, gripped end with small vise grips, worked end through window with flat screw driver, once all of slider end through window just pull.
Good thing one slider was worn right through with a two inch opening.
Before re-installing I should have shaved an angle on slider screw end like at back because now when I run track with it jacked up it is making a clunking noise. I think is because track clips are catching slider screw end.
Hopfully filing end will solve this.

Honestly, this is the easiest skid to pull out. I can have mine in, out and adjusted in less than 30 minutes.
1. Strap rear bumper to something higher like a garage truss and lift rear of machine off ground 2-3ft.
2. Set Torsion springs to Soft
3. Flip over torsion spring blocks toward the front
4. Swing long arm of torsion springs up and over outer idler wheels
5. Loosen track
6. Flip sled over on its side
6. Remove rear bolts and drop rear of skid
7. At this point you can slide the track to right and left to remove hyfax if you want to avoid pulling the whole skid out...
8. Remove phillips screws on front rails
9. Use air chisel to pound off hyfax. A chinese air chisel from Harbor Freight is cheaper than the $75 EZ Slider Tool and is 10X quicker and easier.

Changed a set a few hours ago, and added another small wheel kit to the rear (two sets now...when the slides are new, there is no howl, so the wheels should keep them like new)
Took 10 minutes to change them.
Lift the back (I get underneath), use a philips that fits right, unscrew the screws, loosen track 15 full turns, get a chisel and pound til through the window, then grab with vise grips, one hard yank and out they came.

I thought the wider hyfax started with the '05 models and the '04 had the conventional. I've heard that many folks just lube them up and they make it through the windows. I am going to give that a try before disassembling or cutting windows.
Garserio is right though, the skid is very easy to remove. I also throw a strap over a rafter in the barn to do it.
I've been tempted to use the narrow earlier design on mine when I replace them to get some snow up through the windows...

Slid them through existing holes like most others with lube. Its way easier with a helper I found. Tap slider rearward with hammer and block of wood while helper uses screw driver to pry track aside to let each side of slide through.Used the same needle-nose vise grip and pull technique as the others. Older slides or the Hiperfax I used are the narrower profile,so they go back in pretty nice.T.R.

Come on guys you are making this way to hard. Tip sled on it's side, take the screw out, pound them about 2" out of the track window, flip sled back upright, jack up so track isnt touching the ground, start sled, put in revesere, gas it ans slides are off in about 2 seconds, now tip back on side put new ones on. Did mine like this, bout a 10 minute install.
