I decided a new sled is not in the works so I might as well continue to mod the one I have. My summer projects include:

Apex Mountain seat
Apex bars
Rox 5"pivot riser
Extend all cables and brake line
Pioneer 12 or 13mm swaybar

I received my Apex seat this week and started to mock up my new set up. With the Apex seat on and the 5" riser I felt that I would like the bars just alittle bit highier. So I threw on a 1" riser block I had lying around and I think that did the trick. Since I plan to extend the cables I might as well go big! I am surprised that I can actually see more of the speedo with this setup than with the stock plus a 2" pivot riser. And I have the 5" riser set at true vertical and the bars rotated at their highiest.

Somewhere on the Net I saw something called a Gaitor for hiding cables and filling the hole around the steering column on sleds with tall risers. It was nothing more than a sheet of ripstop nylon and some velcro. I plan to either buy and modifiy it or make my own. The Gaitor would go around the outside riser and all of the cables. I want a Gaitor to go around the cables, wiring connectors, and my YamahaHeater module inside of the risers. I want to see the Rox risers and not cover them. The large hole in the tank cover does not bother me. I will post some pics of my Gaitor as it comes along. G.B.

Now you'll have a little more storage space with the trunk. ;)!

I know, I cant believe that I will have a trunk on this sled!

I trimmed the tank cover yesterday and test fit all of the panels. I now can finish sanding the cut edge and finish it off. I also need to order my longer throttle, choke, and parking brake cables for the rest of my mods. G.B.

Yeah, I use the tool kit strap to fasten my Gatorade in place! Life's simple pleasures...

I figured there had to be a good use for the tool kit strap! Thanks, G.B.

I am getting closer to finishing this mod. The tank cover is trimmed and mounted. The longer throttle, choke, and parking brake cables are on. I am currently playing with routing the wiring on the bars. I had orginally hoped to use a nylon gaitor to cover the wiring and connectors inside of the Rox riser so I could see the riser. I dont think this is possible without lengthening the wiring which I didnt want to do. So I think I am going to use the gaitor as designed and have it cover the riser and the wiring. The next thing I need to do is install the longer brake hose and then adjust all of the cables. See pics below. G.B.

Looks great! I lengthened all of the wiring to hide the connectors under the cowl then covered the wiring in conduit, but it was kind of a real pain!

you may want to throw some windshield trim between the seat and tank cover. it helps with rip prevention and it looks pretty cool also! We did it on our rage with good results.

Yeah I bet it was some work. But I am sure it looks nice and clean. I am hoping this set up works so I dont have to do that. I was excited to find this riser gaitor and for $9.95 I am not sure I could have made one for that price. I think it looks OK. Here is the link with a few pictures.

The throttle side bar connectors are just barely going to be coverd by the gaitor. I have put a dab of dialectric grease in all of the bar control connectors with hopes of keeping things working. If all else fails, I can use the original handle bar pad with the gaitor for better coverage and protection. I am just not crazy with the look with the 6" riser.

Thanks again for all of you help with this Mod! G.B.

I will keep that in mind and can always add that if I see that the tank cover is cutting into the seat. I actually cut my tank cover 4 times trying to fine tune the fit and reduce pressure on the seat and side shroud tabs. The final cut is also a bevel on the under side that I thought might reduce the pressure on the seat. I then sanded big radius's on both the inside and outside edges. Thanks again for the tip! G.B.

I finally got the bars, riser, cables, and wiring buttoned up. We will see how the wiring holds up as the connectors are just barely covered up with the pad and gaitor. I might consider splicing the wires and moving the connectors under the hood next summer like twomorestrokes and others have done. I also mounted the Yamaha mountain skis I picked up as well. The last mod this off season is a Pioneer 13 mm sway bar that I still need to order. I can't wait to ride this with the Apex seat and bars! G.B.
