Do we really need another thread to beat this dead horse? I'm in the mood for a good oil thread, or maybe a fuel octane thread to break up the monotony

Yamaha is one of the worlds leading engine designers/manufacturers. Through their associate with Cat they have a seat at the Textron table. Textron has many, many vehicles that do not yet have Yamaha engines in them. By having a seat at the Textron table, Yamaha has the potential to sell their engines to the other Textron vehicles and make a ton of money doing it.

The fact that Yamaha is unveiling the same date as AC means they have the exact same thing except YAMAHA decals

I was talking to a Yamaha rep at Haydays about my displeasure with the direction Yamaha is going after riding Yamaha my entire life. I told them they need to bring back a true Jap Yamaha, no one likes the entire lineup being Yamacat Sidewinders. He said Yamaha will have something big to announce this year but wouldn't tell me exactly. He hinted it would be a "midsize" sled. My guess is they are bringing back the Phazer or stuffing left over 500cc 4-strokes from the phazer into a Cat.

We can beat this dead horse again. It's fun. Enticer is the word, and possibly a single 300cc engine in a shared chassis with AC.

I don't know what Cat and Yamaha's market research would show, but wouldn't a 300cc motor end up competing for the same market with the 200cc sled they already have in their line-up. What about an air-cooled 400-500cc motor to keep the costs down and make the sled more affordable for entry level adults? Personally, I would like to see Yamaha's version of that chassis utilize an updated version of the Phazer motor. I used to have a Phazer RTX, and then an XTX, and I was much more impressed by the engine than I was the chassis that Yamaha put it in.

Speak for your self vipermike2002 I happen to like the pro cross chassis and so do a lot of others. You can talk to as many Yamaha reps as you want to, they have not a clue were Yamaha is going.

Did I miss something? When did Yamaha announce that they were unveiling their 2021 models on November 19, the same day that Arctic Cat will be unveiling the rest of their 2021 models?

If it wasnt for Cat,now Textron, and the procross chassis,Yamaha wouldnt even have anything to put its stickers on.Snow machines are very small market for a company like Yamaha.

With the 19th only a few hours away, I had to "google" Yamaha for 2021 to see if there was anything out there indicating that Yamaha would be revealing its 2021's tomorrow. I couldn't find anything, but I did find this old (Feb. 2019) article about snowmobile rumors from Yamaha.https://yamahaspecs.com/2021-yamaha-snowmobiles-rumors/ The part that I found most interesting, and hopefully prophetic, was:
"The Medium Power Trail model segment (120-140 HP) allows you to see the introduction of a completely new model. This new suite will be built into a new chassis and equipped with a new four-stroke engine. The goal is to replace the vector lineup. We can also see one or two models reappear in the Viper range, even though there was already time on the platform.
Yamaha has never actually replaced the Phaser family with an entry-level model, which is a shame. This is a serious flaw in the fleet, as many dealers can tell you. Therefore, it is not surprising to see a completely new model on the same platform as the hypothetical new midrange assumption just mentioned. As a result, Yamaha was able to showcase a new engine with HP’s power of 75-110 HP range. This would be a logical choice for a young snowmobile who has learned about Snoscoot."
I know that anything from February of 2019 is "old news," but the forecast of new sleds in "medium power" and "entry-level" in a whole new chassis seems to fall in line with Arctic Cat's "teaser" video for a new chassis, and I think it is pretty exciting. Let's hope!

That's the irony, Yamaha didn't. But AC did.
Stop!, You are both right. (Smile)
Watch, it will be one of those cheesy POS Chinese sleds rebranded AC and Yamaha. I hope they get the emissions right, as they couldn't sell them in the US before. HA!

Is this a leaked photo? Or just a previous year SX race sled with a wrap? It has some serious shocks and a headlight from the race stock SX.
It was on the AC Facebook page, but is now gone
