RX-1 pipes

Heard a couple piped RX1's go by on the trail a month ago - they sound like crap they are so loud.

The only benefit is weight loss, and minor at that. They add nothing for power.

Just sets everyone up for more trail closings. More Michigan trails have closed this year because of noise. Same with Minnesota, farmers are closing their lands because of the goofs with loud exhausts. Noise is the #1 reason for trail closings. Not to mention towns setting their curfews earlier and earlier into the night for the same reason.

imo the sound of a stocker sucks, the sound like limp leaf blowers, ive used my bender pipes for years gone past dozens of wardens and past all sorts of houses and never had a complaint, if all sleds were silent i wouldnt be interested in even riding them.... well maybe when im 75 yrs old lol

Riding with vtrxrider a few weekends ago we almost had a head on with a couple and there dog walking up the middle of the trail. We came around a corner and there they were. The dog (unleashed) headed right for us. Put one sled off the trail up a bank to avoid the dog. We both have 03 rx1's with stock pipes. The couple said they never even heard us coming before we rounded the corner and were on them immediately. Louder isn't always a bad thing. And as stated before, in another thread, a gutted RX1 has nothing on a piped 2 stroke triple for noise.

I don't know about a gutted RX1, but the 2 we watched and heard go by were louder than the piped sleds in our group (ZR9, ZRT8 and ZR5). They were easily as loud as most sleds the normal person would call annoyingly loud. I always thought it was just AC riders that liked annoyingly loud pipes!

If they were louder then a piped zr 900, they must have been cut off at the head and routed up through the hood. Or the cat guys you run with drive really, really sloooooowwwwwwwww.

The Cat riders I ride with are brappin fools, they love to just sit there and brap brap brap when ever they can! That is why I thought this was only a Cat problem :)

I have no idea what the two RX-1's had on them that went by, but they were brutal sounding. Other than that I have not heard any other piped ones. Maybe the rest aren't so bad. If they are close though, it is only hurting our sport.

I would still like to hear a sound clip of the bender pipes i would love to hear those. crazymf how much are you asking for your pipes?

Kenlacy - I have the QC1, and is trail decible friendly, and know there are more out there that aren't. But to your post, I did gain .3 in a quarter mile, just by putting the exhaust on, (asphalt 2003), and did see a gain of 3 horse.

FYI

While I've heard both Indy and NosPro's machines and think they sound sweet, I'm firmly with Kenlacy when it comes to the noise issue.

Loud pipes may save lives but they will close trails. Performance gains don't mean much if you don't have a place to ride.

Hate to be such a poop but I like to ride and I want my children and their children to have the same opportunities.

NosPro - for racing applications, the little HP you gain (in all reality, on the track, 3 HP is a good gain) is beneficial - no doubt. But on the trail, a 3 HP gain is not felt by a majority of riders.

People have every right to put the exhaust they want on their sleds. The people that ride with us catch a lot of hell for having loud pipes.

Kenlacy, I couldn't agree with you and Steve more. But that is why they have to be decible friendly. even with my QC1, I can't hear it past 7,000 RPM. Haucks exhaust is very loud, and those 2 RX1's you probably heard, had GP1, (full race) versions. I agree with the noise ordinance, but if I am legal, ??????
