I currently have a 2005 RX-1 ER LE with just over 1,000 miles on it. the sled has always been garaged & trailered in an enclosed trailer. Upon inspection at the dealer for summerization, they noticed a little rust around one of the lower welds of the front arm. I saw that in the beginning of the season, but it appeared to be just surface rust. I'was going to sand it down and repaint it this summer. The dealer said they have seen a bunch of these arms cracking and breaking. I think they want to sell a new part and 3 hours labor. Has anyone had any problems with their front suspension arms? Thanks - David

You mention UPPER in your intro and lower welds in your write up, are you talking about front "A" arms for skis...if so the upper is in ALUMINUM so no rust there but the lower 1 is STEEL and I haven't heard of any issues with lower arms failing under NORMAL use, it might of gotten a bad blow at a given time and cracked, you could get it welded even reinforced depending location of failure without having to take everything apart for the fraction of $$$, try posting few pics to get more suggestions....

It's the lower weld on the rear suspension front weld. I will take a magnifying glass to it when i get it back from the dealer, but when i look at it really close in the fall other than a little surface rust, everything appeared to be fine. I'd like to believe this arm may be a tad overengineered. I'll post a pic as soon as I pick the sled back up.

He's talking about the W-arm. They have been known to crack, alot of people on this site have just rewelded then reinforced them.

Pivot arm...got it now, do yourself a favor and get a '08 or '09 its beefed up and is a direct bolt on...here's a pic of it.
