Ok I just spent over $1200 on new bushings, A-Arms, and Skis to improve the front suspension on my 04 RX Warrior. I want to upgrade my shocks to a set of Fox floats but I cant find any available for them. Even the Fox website doesn't list them, only for the RX-1 mountain. What would you recommend for X-country racing and trail use? I was hoping for Fox Floats since they eliminate the use of coil overs and shave another 6lbs off the overweight beast.

Apex shocks are 16.5 inches long, RX1 mountain and Apex MTX are 15.5" long. RX1 and Warrior shocks are 17.6" long. The only sled close to the Warrior is the FX Nytro MTX @ 17.5"
How would a shorter shock from a FX Nytro MTX affect handling? I know its only .1 of an inch but I want this to be perfect for X-country racing.

The standar nytro gytrs are approx 17.5", so doubt that the nytro mtx runs 17.5".
I have a few sets of the 17.5 gytr shocks from the nytro.

Second thing to consider other than overall length. stroke and collapsed lengthvas well are all equally important
Get those specs and im sure youll find many options yamki or otherwise.
Happy huntin
.
Suprised noone mentioned a pioneer revalve.. good option as well with less hairpulling and math

I'm looking for a lighter option. The Fox floats seem to be a nice option. No coil spring is a huge weight reduction. I just cant seem to locate a dealer that sells Fox Floats for the RX Warrior's anymore, only the RX1 Mountain.
Are there any other shock manufactures that offer a air ride system that eliminates the coil spring?

Wanna lose 8-10lbs with out spending 1000$ . Spray pam on your skidframe and up in the tunnel. But thats more like deterring 20-30lbs from sticking to your sled.
Secondly flatlanders rarely find lightweight stuffs on a heavy sled actually survive very long. *shrug* ...
Imo its the wrong rig to start spending large $ for a few at that point unnoticeable lbs.
Just my .02 there .. *cheers *

I talked to a guy at shock tec in Ontario, about my 03 rx1 shocks after I installed my ZX2 skid. he said that the yamaha shocks are actually really decent shocks if the are rebuilt and revalved for the proper weight and rider style and doesn't understand why people are so eager to spend tons of cash on new shocks. He told me that he could get them working just as good as a fox float. For $65 for a rebuild and revalve, I am going to try this route. good luck with your choice.

The 06-07 Nytro fox floats are only 16.5 center to center. RX runs a 17.5 center to center
