RX1 Impulse Mid Mount Conversion Project

Rx1M5 you cut the bulkhead in two right there behind the exhaust ports or is it just a notch? I know I asked about this before and impulse said they add in some reinforcment just not sure where or how.

Sweet set up, I like the idea of the rev seat and tank combo looks much nicer then I would have thought. way to set the bar now I can see a lot of turbo freaks going to go that route :-)

Basically you just whack the 4 exhaust holes out of the bulkhead. There is a flat casting in the sides that you cut back to then just smooth it out. Once you do it it kind of looks like it should come that way. As far as the re-enforcement goes I made a plate to fill in the bulkhead/tunnel section up front and a seperate cover for my tunnel. A guy could do the whole thing in one piece but I wanted to keep working while the larger section was out being powder coated so I did it in two pieces. I'm going to build my tank cowl this week. It needs to be ready for the 24th.

What is the exhaust side on that GT2680RS turbo - 0.64 og 0.86 A/R?

Hey paul, to get rid of that warning light without the fuel gauge hooked up you need to wire in a resistor between the two wires. I can't remember what ohm I used but I had to experiment with it to get the gauge up in the middle where the warning light won't come on for low fuel, Ken.

Yah I kinda thought it would be something like that. I sold my old tank with the fuel sender in it so I can't even measure the resistance of the sender. Duh should have done that I guess before I shipped it off.LOL

I am using the 0.64 to start with but I have a 0.86 here I can put on if I want.

Thanks! Please keep us updated during the season ;)!

I have my tank in the garage I can measure the resistance and let you know.

That would be great.

I installed my headlights and I made some good progress on the tank cowl today. Hopefuly I'll have the glass work done tommorow. I'll post some pics when it is finished. Last thing to do is ride the crap out of it next week.

Well I got a chance to take the sled out yesterday for a test and tune. We were riding at 7000 feet in 2 feet of fresh with about a 5-6 foot base so for November it was awesome. I've got a few issues I need to deal with, the midrange jetting is way lean so I need to raise my needles a couple of notches. Up top I was getting 12.8 A/F pulling 10,800 at WOT on a pull in fresh snow at 16 lbs boost. Throttle response is about the same as the front mount with the GT25 or maybe just slightly less but when it gets to 7000 rpm it pulls insane hard. Thats where you really feel the difference and where the sled is now lean so basically once the GT28 is spooled it jams way more air in there. I'm going to go up one size on the mains to 135 and do the needles then run it again, but I'm pretty close. On one pull yesterday I almost put it over backwards, it used to carry the skis about a foot or two off the snow on most climbs but now it'll stand straight on end so I may need to address the wheelie issue but one thing at a time.

Mo Power

Sounds great.

Must be definately putting out more power per lb of boost with the bigger turbo!

Sorry I have not got the resistance measured on the fuel level sensor yet. I will try to get it done tonight. You want it to read full or what?

I don't really care whether its full or empty I just need to get the idot light to go out. That was one of my issues yesterday, I rode all day with the idiot light blinking and then on the way down the trail all my guages went out cause the fuse blew. I replaced the fuse and it all works again so I don't know if I have a short or some water got into the fuel sender plug in
or what but I'd like to resolve that. We had snow over the hood all day so something could have easily gotten wet.

What are you using to keep the temps down with no running boards coolers.I want to remove mine also and put something else in its place.thanks

My running boards are coolers. The coolant runs through the outer tubes to a large U-cooler in the rear.
