I've been looking at these and they seem to be nice. I don't know any with one to comment, but I'd say give it a try! (let me know what you find out) I've heard some bad things about the BV2S being really cold at higher speeds. That's why I've been looking at this Scorp.

I've been looking a these also. For the most part, I have read good things about them. They are a popular street bike helmet that has been getting into the snowmobile market.
The only bad thing I read was when one of the magazines (don't remember which one) was testing, the flip down shield shattered in real cold temps. Scorpion indicated the shield tested was a proto type and would be resolved for the public.
Just my $.02

It's new this year, few have had a chance to do any riding with it yet. I have one on order and should have it in a week. Will let you know my opinion after I have some miles on it in a couple months.

The bvs2 helmet is far from being cold, far from it,its to darn warm, not enough air comes thru it,all the venting is done thru the mouth piece, heck my older doo modgular was way better, and yes i have both helmets, that is why i went with the exo700 scorp,it should be in this week, but i wont be able to give any feed back for a couple of months.JJWickenhauser said:I've been looking at these and they seem to be nice. I purchased one at the Novi show. While I have not had a chance to ride with it on, it seems like a great helmet. I liked the features the helmet offered. The slide down sun visor looks great. It's every bit as good as the HJC helmets I've been wearing. I see no reason why it will not perform as expected when I get a chance to ride with it. Only time and some white stuff will tell.

The original post was asking about a "scorpion 400 helmet" and that is what I was responding to.

I tried one on at the Minneapolis snow show. I was thinking that I was going to buy one, but after seeing in person there were some things I didn't like. The shield covers up the vents on the top of the helmet so opening the vents won't do any good to get some air flow. I also didn't like the looks of the shield. The entire shield is clear plastic not just the part you look through. IMO it would look much better with black plastic and just the clear part to look through like most helmets we are used to.

Well I'll be! Just got the call from my Doo dealer. My EXO400 is IN! Several days earlier than I expected. I'm gonna go try it on tomorrow. And assuming it fits (had to order a XXXL fer my FAT head, haven't actually tried it for fit yet) I'm taking it home.
I frankly think it's got a TON of cool features for the money they ask, and all the motorcycle guys seem to love 'em. I just hope the durn thing works when it's COLD out. I intend for this to be my new long distance trail riding helmet replacing my HJC CL14...but I much prefer MX/Goggle combo for most of my boondock type riding though...and I dont' expect this EXO to do that very well because it simply won't move enough air.

Scorpion Snow Helmet
Not sure how often one would open the vents on a snow helmet, but you can put a regular shield on for other types of use, like motorcycle riding.
I currently use a HJC CL style helmet and I never open the top vent. If I need some venting, I just opened the shield a bit.
(I must say I wish they could incorporate the shield system for summertime use with the vents-would be a great cycle helmet and no need to carry an extra shield)
For the all-clear shield, you could customize it by painting the top area of the shield if you would like-paint on the back side like guys do with hood deflectors on trucks.
For the price, I think Scorpion has a good product with alot of features you would normally find on a more-expensive helmet such as Shoei or Arai.

I tried on the 400 at the dealer where i ordered my exo700 and i was wondering the same thing about the vents,my biggest problem is venting thru the head as an exhaust, iam not so concerned about fresh air coming in,just old sweaty air leaving. I dont understand what you mean about the shield, being clear plastic, although mine will come with the double elec. shield, are you talking about the sun visor? As far as fit and comfort,it is by far the most comfortable helmet i have ever worn.sinjin said:I tried one on at the Minneapolis snow show. What I meant is the whole shield is clear colored plastic from the bottom of the visor all the way up to the top where it covers the vents up and all the way over to the sides where it attaches/pivots on the helmet. It is a nice helmet with nice features. I do think they run a size smaller than HJC helmets. In a scorpion I would need a XXL and a HJC full face and MX style I wear a XL
