Yes now i see what you see,it does look like it covers up the vent,in the top front, thats weird, why did they put in the vent, than cover it up,and yes it is totally clear, uumm i guess i am ok with the clear shield, but i would like to know there logic of the blocked off vent..sinjin said:mnmsnowbeast said:I dont understand what you mean about the shield, being clear plastic, although mine will come with the double elec. shield, are you talking about the sun visor?
What I meant is the whole shield is clear colored plastic from the bottom of the visor all the way up to the top where it covers the vents up and all the way over to the sides where it attaches/pivots on the helmet. It is a nice helmet with nice features. I do think they run a size smaller than HJC helmets. In a scorpion I would need a XXL and a HJC full face and MX style I wear a XL

i think the design is primarily a summer helmet, that they retrofit for snow..Well thats my guess anyways,i dont know this for a fact.

Yes, the EXO 400/700 series is a motorcycle helmet. Appears that they added the dual pane anti-fog visor with drop down sun visor, some extra weatherstripping, breath deflector, and chin guard to convert it for snow use. A pretty nice helmet bag to protect from scratches is included. If you buy it from Ski-Doo they throw in the original motorcycle single pane clear shield in the box, so you can remove all the snow stuff and convert it to use it in summer also. I'm not sure that the ones direct from Scorpion come with that extra shield.
Picked mine up today...fits perfect and I'm very pleased. Quite possibly the most comfortable helmet I've put on my head in 30 years. Plush padding, snug but not tight, seems like it will be a very quiet helmet that seals very well, good visibility, vents and shields work well (except the blocked one obviously), nice quick release strap, high quality throughout.
Negatives: Yes indeed the forehead vents are blocked by the visor, because the slide down tinted visor is extra tall. I agree that is kind of a dumb design but I guess that's the way it is, the price you pay for the benefits of the drop down visor. And I personally prefer smoke visors over amber, and it comes only with the amber. So I guess I'm stuck buying the accessory smoke visor to complete it for my purposes. 3XL is not Snell rated, but all other sizes are.
Beyond that, I think I'll really like it as a cold weather helmet for sit down trail riding. I am fully convinced that it will NOT move enough air for boondocking, aggressive riding, or riding in altitude....but few full face helmets do. Hopefully it doesn't fog, but we'll see. The breath deflector fits snugly to my nose and cheeks so I think it will be fine. I did not get the electric shield, I personally hate them...tried one once and the cord was always in the way for occasional jumping between running boards and other such side-hilling maneuvers.
I got the plain matte black, has two tastefully small BRP logos, one on the chin the size of a dime, one on rear the size of a nickel. Probably easily removable stickers if anyone cares, but I don't so they're staying on. Overall, with all those features for only $159 full retail, I think it's awful hard to beat when compared to the HJC's and other such brands.
Fog report in a few months...

I bought the 400 a couple weeks ago. Slightly over $180, with the electric shield. Look before you buy. Also, they run a little small. I have used for years a large Arctic Cat (CKX) and I took a XXL in the EXO.
I think it will work just fine. It also matches the yellow on my Yellow on Black RX-1. I looked at the 700. I did not think the "extra protection" was worth the price.
Time will tell if it is any good in the snow. I have bought several HJCs that I thought would be good out there. However, not one of them could be worn w/o the heated shield. I ended up giving them away.
Also, my friend's BVS's breathing air holes constantly froze up. We had to stop very frequently to dig the ice out of the air holes. Definetly would not buy one of those.

I dont know of anybody who has the breathing holes freeze up on the BV2S. Whenever I see this comment, as in numerous threads in the past, it always seems that it is the Modular that freezes up, not the BV.
The best helmet there is IMHO, the BV2s
And that is not meant to imply that the Scorpian is not a good helmet as well

Questions on Scorpion lids
So has anyone received the standard single-pane (motorcycle-use) clear shield with their Scorpion lid? Or is it just the Ski Doo version that includes that?
I'd like to go with the EXO 700, but a black helmet doesn't do much for me-not as visible and shows scratches easily. I like the orange on the Warhawk EXO 400!
As mentioned earlier about the top front venting, those are blocked only due to the sun-shield design. Not sure if any mods could be done to that area of the outer shield to allow air to flow through while the vent is open and the sun shield is lowered?
On sizing, definately want to try one on before ordering if going mail-order, as the size seems to be a bit small compared to other helmets.
Scorpion has a patented NO Fog coating on the inside of the shields, so I'm going w/o the electrics.

I agree they run small.
A side note I just discovered by (GASP!) reading the instructions: The top vents on these helmets are TOTALLY useless until you remove the helmet liner and remove 4 styrofoam plugs from the top of the helmet. ZERO air will flow through the vents if you leave these plugs in place, whether open or closed.
Those of you who own this helmet will definitely want to keep that in mind. I like more ventillation so I yanked mine right away. Instructions state this will increase chance of frostbite...I find that hard to believe but I can always put them back in if needed.

Tork do you owne a bvs2 helmet, because i do,and it is by far the worst helmet i have wasted alot of money on,i even bought the ele. shield last year for it at 150 bucks just for the shield, and it broke in less than 24 hours, the wire riped out when the shield would rub on it,piss poor design, but it just does not vent anywhere enough air,and it can not get rid of it fast enough,my doo modgular was a way better helmet.

3 seasons, 5000 + miles and I say not a single problem with the BV2S, quiet ,warm, great visability. There are about 20 other guys on here that love em too.
Scorpion Snow Helmet
Stopped by the local Yami/Doo shop today and checked out the BRP(Ski Doo) version of the Scorpion lids.
These come standard with the "quick-buckle" retention strap, anyone with a standard Scorpion Snow helmet, does yours just have the D-rings?
What I like about the Doo version is that it comes with the "summer" single pane clear shield at no charge, and with their upcoming in-store sale, I can get into the EXO700 w/graphics for $190. This is only $10 more than the everyday price of a EXO400. The 700 felt lighter to me and is a Kevlar/fiberglass shell vs. polycarbonate, not that the 400 is any less safe.
What I'm not crazy about is the graphics have a large area of yellow, and not much of the other colors and I don't want to go with a solid black helmet. The BRP logos caneasily be removed-size of a dime and just stuck on.
Not sure why Scorpion doesn't offer their 700 series snow helmets with graphics as I really like the graphics with the orange-looks good and very visible!
