SD_39 Code

I recently got an MBRP Trail Can for my Sidewinder, installed it, and sounds great.

The installations instructions stated that while it wasn't necessary, it was recommended I also install a Tuner, as any aftermarket Exhaust should have a tuner.

I bought a Dobeck EJK Plug and Play Tuner, and now am getting the SD_39 code.

I am about to disconned the Tuner, but before I do, thought I would put this out here to see if this is something I need ot be concerned with.

Never heard of one of those 'Dobecks'.
Go with Hurricane or TD.
And yes, you do need a tune with a straight-through muffler.

Without an AFR module and readout so you can adjust fuel or the ability for that device to read AFRs to control your fuel supply I don't see how it can work.
Sorry to say this but if it were me I would immediately remove this device before it harms your engine. If you don't want to spend much money just buy a basic performance muffler tune from Hurricane or TD and enjoy miles of smiles with reliable power. In the mean time put your stock muffler back on until you get a proper tune....998 engines are not easy or cheap to rebuild.

If its like the MBRP muffler I saw on sled come thru here. It has a smaller outlet than stock! We pulled it off and installed a 2.5" Hurricane trail muffler so the machine could breath. It had a tune in the ECU for the larger known muffler.


You need to be careful putting certain mufflers on these sleds. They can will hit the boost cut, over rev and/or hurt engines depending on the circumstances.

Myself, I wouldn't use either item you bought I can only guess from eBay, but stick with products from the known reputable tuners that have been out there for years. Their tunes and mufflers go together as a package.

I just had a 2017 come through with a MBRP muffler(can you even call it that?) which then had a code 26.
New owner says put stock muffler back on. Done.

Yes, that looks like it. Is the outlet smaller than the stock muffler? If so thats the one.

I don't see code 39 in my book, I'm not sure what that one is.

Well knowing it has a smaller outlet than stock, I'm not sure it flows more ultimately. It is louder however so who knows unless you'd flow it on a flow bench. I know it was killing the power on a PM tuned sled!

No, I'm trying to understand that one, but I'd suspect it has to do with that fuel Dobeck fuel controller possibly not correctly installed or throwing the code perhaps. Lots of electrical connections there. 6 for the injectors alone, and then the power and ground. So I'd be more looking towards that being the culprit more so.

Ah, I bet you're right, it's one of those ones that ties into the system in the injector harness I'm thinking. I've seen that type used on ATV's and such. Tripped the code.
