You can gladly call MPI and ask them what it would take to make their system work at sea level on down to 87 octane. This is about a Ulmer Racing turbocharger so please do not hijack the post.![]()
.
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack, just asking a simple question as I thought you sold that product...no need to make someone feel like d**k..

Shaddow, I did respond to your question via PM just a few minutes ago!

Allen thanks for the response, that was the answer I was looking for! The turbo sounds like a better option with less hassle.
Going back to my earlier question about the turbo kit...by dropping the boost to 2-3lbs and making it 87 octane friendly, how much HP would you lose..5-10...making it 160-165hp range?

Would this turbo setup have more lag than your 180 kit with the lower end turbo? I honestly like your 180 kit but by the time I am done adding in guages, clutching, and extrovert drivers it is over $5,000 which is a bit much for me at the moment.
I am guessing this kit could produce afew more HP with an open exhaust ? 180 HP possible ?

The last time I was on the dyno at 3 lbs of boost the sled made 162-165 (peaked at 167 in one spot).

Journal bearing turbo vs ball bearing, the journal bearing will be a little slower to respond. The only other thing that may make it better is the intercooler not being there (there is a slight pressure drop with the intercooler) so response may be very close. Until we can do some testing we will not know for sure.
An aftermarket muffler will add 3-4 hp most of the time.

allen....one thing you might want to point out ....the torque figures etc...not necessarily the H.P. numbers...
a good illustration of this is your original stage one aerocharger vs mpi s/c done at Dynotech...
I think if you post info like that ....well its compelling to say the least...
some guys I know get caught up with peak H.P. and dont understand its the fat and wide bigger torque band that makes it happen...
