Good evening, I recently picked up a 03 RX1 LE ER and the seat is not looking to good. I had this same model in 2004 and the ride was OK but I have seen people putting on Apex seats on the Rx's? What year Apex stuff fits? Also I checked Craigs list in my area and also ebay and not finding much, where else do people find the Apex seats, junkyards? Thanks, John

You'll want to raise the bars a few inches too.

06-2010 apex seat or 06-07 rs nitro seat work. aperently wrp makes a kit for the rx seat base now that gives you a new cover and foam.

Apex seat 06 to 10 fits as has been said. Check the classifieds! You need to trim the tank cover a bit about three inches in the middle tapering down to near an inch cut off on the sides. I used to have the pattern but lost it. There is a printable one floating around on TY somewhere. Then you put a slit rubber hose over it (1/4 inch rubber or plastic might work as well) for a trim piece and it looks factory. Two inch riser will work with factory throttle cable if you reroute it. More of a riser needs the longer mountain cable. You have to keep the cable slack as if when you turn the bars and it pulls tight it will pull on the throttle. Remember to tape the plastic cover for the tank with masking tape before you cut with a jig saw or any other kind of saw to protect the paint from peeling off or scratch damage.
You have to change the end on the wire harness depending on if you want to run the apex tail light or not. I ran the stock RX plastics and light on the rear so I changed the whole harness over from my RX seat. If you buy the apex light plastics you need to change the end to an apex one for the light. Pop out the staples on one side and change harness but you need a good stapler to staple it back. I found an electric one that worked well.
So you need a apex harness if your going apex lights.

Well the original seat is the first thing everyone changed on all 03-05 RX.
When your sitting to be sitting 2" taller without that dip in seat is huge relief off knees and back, would be fine for 2 up.
You want to sit with knees and hips the same height, with legs parallel with running boards.

If you can find a seat from a '06 Nytro, the wiring harness will fit perfectly without touching it. Still have to obviously trim the tank cover. Also, bar risers are more or less mandatory once you raise the seat, the bars will hit your knees otherwise.

Here is WRP MOUNTAIN SEAT on RX1
Nice firm density in foam.
Hoped it was 1" taller tho.
Trunk has no liner so need to be careful what you put in it, nothing like Allen Wrench's.

What exactly do you need to extend the controls for this mod? I'm sure an extended throttle cable at least, but where can I get one and what models will work? I currently have a rox 2" adjustable riser and I'm thinking a 2" block as well if I do this. If anyone has part numbers or specific sites to order them that would be great.
