i remember reading a post a few weeks ago about the importance of filing off some little ridges on the secondary that prevent full shifting. I believe these ridges were left over from manufacturing and were supposed to be filed off at the factory. I've looked all over on here and I can't find that thread. I want to check that out on my clutch but I need help finding the thread. Thanks!

Yes, Vilas.... I was the one who started seeing problems with the secondary binding and found the burrs in the pockets of the secondary....they were hitting the towers.

Page 2 in the link that Cannondale posted above shows the video and pics where to find the casting flash. :)

Thanks for this info, I'll be looking into this this weekend.

If anyone else comes across one that is actually rubbing I'd like to see pics. Mine isn't anywhere near rubbing but I will say in general my clutches have more sharp edges than any yammie clutches I've ever dealt with. Sliced my hand open taking off the belt. I've never had that happen and I've owned a lot of yamahas.

You must have a 2016, because I noticed the same thing. I had ALREADY gone around with the dremel and cleaned up BOTH clutches for the very reason you mention. Then later setting up a belt on it, turning the 2ndry I noticed spots on the rim of clutch, IT WAS BLOOD. Must have missed a spot, cause it got me like a razor.

Speaking of binding, what ever happened to the guy that had black marks all over his clutches because they would not shift? Was this past off season not too long ago as I recall.

Cuz they wouldn't shift?...I thought it was from a massive brake stand that they did on the clutches. I remember those pics and couldn't believe all the burn rubber on them things!
