how much of a benifit is there by switching to the nytro/srx etc style clutch. I have a drag srx and i am used to workin on those secondarys but have never used a phazer type.
I have one on my Phazer(Vmax500 reverse secondary) and really have not seen any difference at all.I thought about trying a roller setup on it but worry the faster backshift will cause more engine braking which I dont want.

so a srx secondary should fit?
No the splines are to big.Vmax 500 clutch is same as SRX but smaller splines.

Really what year and is it even worth replacing?
cannondale, what degree helix and spring did you end up useing? did you stay with same specs as old secondary?
Edge I would say no not worth doing unless you were to want a roller.
The book says the shorty's run a 39 degree helix, stock. Are you sure on the 85 #? Just trying to get a base line for a setup on my mnt lite.
I will look again but I am pretty sure.Maybe the angle is different for the reverse secondary?I think it was the stock Helix from Vmax 500.
Shows what I know about clutching!38 helix?Sorry.Anyone know how to identify these secondary's?
Here is the Vmax stock specs.
